I currently would like to connect to the dialer for #777 and need some assistance in getting to modem init string on the Verizon XV6600 PDA using 1XRTT. We are writing our VB.net application running on Compact .NET Framework 1.x and would like to have the #777 be dialed when our end user launches the application.

If a connection is configured on your device, and it's the default connection then it should automatically start the session when required.

CDMA devices come preconfigured and should not need modifications. Or do you need to configure the devices for specific reasons?

Currently we have to select the Champagne antenna and then select #777 to connect to the data network. We want to be able to have access to the dialer so we can have the application once launched can automatically dial the #777 and the user does not have to do that step if at all possible. We are also writing in a script to reconnect to the #777 should the data network become offline for a few minutes.

With WM5 any web calls made in code will automatically use the default connection. However In 2003 se you may need to start the connection yourself programatically.

To do this you can use OpenNetCF http://www.opennetcf.org their smart device framework allows you to start and stop connections.
Make sure you get the old version for CF 1sp3 rather than CF 2.
