Maybe I just had beginner's luck, but when I first installed my BT modem and connected to the internet, everything was sweet as, but since my upgrade, things have been going somewhat downhill LOL!

I believe there were some BT settings changes in the ROM upgrade, I guess for security reasons - trouble is it's too *secure* for me to get logged on LOL - here's what happens:

The actual dialup is fine, however it says that my username/password is incorrect and to check the settings. Now I *know* that this isn't the case, as I've double checked it a million and one times LOL

When I go into the connection settings, my password is missing, wiped out - this is after I attempt a connection which fails. If I go into the connection settings at any other time, the password looks to be about 2½ as long as the actual password that I entered. (This may have always been the case, I'm not sure).

Unless this is totally screwed by the upgrade, there must be another setting somewhere that I've missed, so I'm hoping one of you guys can help me find it.

I've tried soft reset, turning off modem etc to no avail - I feel such an idiot because it worked so easily the first time around!

Oh sorry, it's not a phone - it's an ipaq 4350 connecting to the Internet via a bluetooth modem. :)

P.S. 56K dialup modem that is.

Oh, I see... The Bluetooth modem. Ok, it should be quite straight really - create a new connection, enter the phone number and off you go: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=1477 - replace the *99# with the number and the information for login.

Actually I had done it all OK (not a phone connection btw), but I'm mortified to have to admit I had the username wrong!

What? you say!!!

Er well, it's like this - over the last 5/6 years, for reasons I forget I've had a couple of username changes (my ISP has a few quirks).

Since on my last computer, the password kept getting deleted, on my new computer I set it so that neither my username or password were visible - therefore couldn't be accidentally deleted or changed.

Anyway, although I checked with my ISP who said it was so and so username, it actually was a different one!

Fishy story? Nope, it actually is true!

And no, I'm not blond LOL

Thanks anyway, Mauricio

*slinks away promising not to bother anyone again - at least not this week!!*
