I made the decision to buy a Windows Phone and settled upon a Samsung Omnia 7.

While I was doing a bit of research I came across some articles containing rumblings of new Mango installed devices releasing "soon", some stating as early as November (Samsung Focus Flash, Nokia's whatever). Now, I'm not the type that gets annoyed at buying a device and having it become obsolete in say 6 months time. I would however be annoyed if that were in a months time.

My question then is if there's consensus on these new phones release dates? I don't care too much for the specs but the concept designs of the possible Windows Nokia phone are mouthwatering.

I don't think there's a consensus on release dates. Nokia said it may have a model before end of year, but full production in 2012.

HTC has released the HTC Titan and you can parallel import now.

Omnia is a good choice because it already has internet Wi-Fi tethering drivers in Mango. None of the other phones have drivers yet.

You have to enable it using registry editor so you require a developer unlocked (or Chevron Jailbroken) phone.

Quite a few mango pre-loaded devices have been revealed since last month. HTC has released the HTC Titan and HTC Radar which you can parallel import. Samsung has announced the Focus S and Focus flash. Vodafone NZ has publicly said now that they will be releasing the Samsung Omnia W in November here. LG has released the Jil Sanders phone is Europe. Nokia is revealing their Windows Phone devices on 26th October and will be releasing in the 2nd or 3rd week of November in selected European countries to start with.

Vodafone will release new Windows Phone 7 "Mango" before Christmas

or just import which ever model you like from overseas. Personally I'm eyeing up the HTC Titan

Oh I had not heard of the Omnia W until now! Screen smaller by 0.3 inches. Processor increase by 0.4 GHz. Eh...

I'm just curious about those possible Nokia N9 type phones now. If they look anything like the N9 I'd kill for one. I'd imagine they must be quite expensive though.

HOLY COW! They do look exactly like the N9's!! That's settled then. I'm waiting until November (possibly December and hassle my dad for it as a Christmas present Tongue Out) and importing those bad boys.

Sorry for the double post but I had a question about the Omnia 7 that Google didn't help to answer and I didn't want to start a new thread. Does the Omnia 7 not work on Telecom XT?

No it will not. Omnia 7 is designed for Vodafone and 2Degrees in NZ. You want the Samsung focus which is the Omnia 7 equilant which works on Telecom XT.
