I have just become the (proud?) owner of a Imate JAMin but have been disappointed with its behaviour.
I find that often it fails to switch on, and I have to use the soft reset to get it to activate. (several times a day)
Has anyone observed this aberrant behaviour, or do I have a "lemmon"?

Ah the joys of getting a import phone

Wonder what support you will get from Imate?

Johnr, the i-mate JAMMIN is sold in New Zealand through Vodafone.

Ghoop, are you using a SD card? Sometimes the device fails to power up due to some driver problems. Have you tried without the card for a couple of days?

Thanks for the prompt reply.
Yes the JAMin was obtained locally (last Friday) and Yes, I do have an SD card in it, so I'll remove it an see what happens.
Cheers

Nah! That didn't work.
Unit still intermittently fails to "ignite" and only option is soft reset.
I guess I had better try Imate for suggestions.

Hi,
This is my first post so hope it works.

I had the same problem and thinking it was the device I returned it and they replaced it with a new one only to find out the same thing happened.

So I was straight back to the supplier who rang I-mate, They promptly directed me to their clubimate web site and told me to download the new ROM and install it. Since doing that I've had no problems at all.
It was a simple process. The instructions say it will take 30mins or more (from memory) but it took less than 5mins Smile

Let me know if you need more instructions or links etc and I'll try and track them down.

http://www.clubimate.com/t-device_jamin_upd_vfnz.aspx

I didn't carry out step 2 as this appeared to install the previous ROM version that wasn't working.

Hope this helps.

Thanx for the info on the ROM. I'll try the ROM update tomorrow.
I contacted club Imate today and they suggested I go back to the supplier...Duh.
