25th July I signed up for Rift, entered my credit card detail.

Then cancelled it 5 minutes later (canclled subscrib + deleted credit card detail) so I can experience the free 30 days free trial without them charging anything.

Then today I got a bill that says RIFT charged my credit card on the 26th July for 20 US Dollars !!!! WHAT THE !!!

I thought they dont charge you until the free 30 days is over

Argue it with them. Make sure you find the t&c/clause that states the "free" trial tho.....

Dude the free trial is only for 7 days and one month should only be $15 USD. Something smells fishy here.

I signed up for the 7 days.

It expired mid play. So i subscribed to the digital standard edition. Entered my credit card details then immediately cancelled everything and deleted my CC details in order to get the 30 days free without them charging me.

I got charged $20 for the game itself it seems (excluding subs)

Dunno, i might've read it wrong >_<

Yeah you might have, although two things still don't add up though. Why did it expire after only one day? And why were you only charged $20 when the full game is supposed to cost $25? Did you buy it directly from Trion or did you go through a digital distribution site ie Steam?

Also I have to unfortunately say is that as soon as you pay for Rift your free trial ends. This seems unfair to me, but is stated in their T&Cs.

To top off your unfortunate luck if you bought what I think you bought you still actually have to pay for some play time. Another thing that seems unfair to me.

I dont know for sure. They only charged me $20. I cancelled after i subscribed and were still given the 30 days. But of course they charged me the $20.

I have 5 days left of the 30.

It didn't expire after 1 day hehe. U misunderstood me. The 7 days free trial expired while I was playing it. So I got booted out. After that then I subscribed.

I deleted my CC details from the payment method section when i cancelled the sub. That should stop them charging right ??

Sorry, in your first post you said that you signed up on 25th July and you were charged the next day on the 26th, obviously you signed up for the digital standard edition on the 25th correct?

They must've given you a deal for trialling the game first I assume. As it's normally $40 for the game and 30 days play.

And yes if you have unsubscribed they will not charge your CC again, you should have received an email confirming this.

Actually they charged my CC on that same day. I forgot about the time difference. (timezone)

I think they really charged me for buying the game. As i'm starting to remember something about "$19.99 for the digital standard edition plus 30 days free trial" ...I never actually thought they would charge me that 19.99... dumb me

Yeah that sounds about right. Oh well at least it's all figured out now. Enjoy your five days (or maybe six depending on whether you took the time difference into account) left of play.
