@dontpanic42: thanks for your help.

I had a play, and tried to capture some enemy portals, but didn't have much luck... I could only see 4 portals on the map, three are in the red-zone and inaccessible. The other I could hack, but I couldn't XMP it.

To anyone wanting an invite, submit yourself on ingress.com website ASAP. I had to wait a week or so.

Edit: and I ordered a spare 3800mAh battery, the game sucks the juice.

Some interesting similarities with the logo on Tom Cruise's character in the new Oblivion trailer, and the Ingress logo.

Yeah, I got one on the weekend too - but mainly because I know a few guys that work at Google, and got one to send me an invite.

You don't seem to get in-game invites to hand out often. One theory I heard is that you get some after getting to Level 3 or so, or they get given to you to hand out by participating in social media activities, but I'm not sure of either.

well no idea what I'm doing at moment, when I go to recruit it shows my gmail address and someone else but says no invites left so you maybe right. I'll do some reading up but was just out getting some petrol and it was making all sorts of noises so quite a distraction if used when driving

I think this will become very big so will be interesting to watch it evolve. Also be interesting to see how google will make money from it as I'm assuming its not just being done for the love of it

I've heard that people posting Field Reports on G+ using the below tags are likely to get invites that they are then able to give out to other people.

#ingress   #IngressReport   #IngressFieldReport

I haven't yet done a field report myself, so not sure if it actually works, but it's worth a shot.

I can't see the game becoming popular unless the game mechanics change significantly to be more viral, more fun for newbies, and more fun to progress.

I played for a while but it requires too much grinding farming for me. Also I can't see how it will draw in new players, because newbies can't have much fun against higher level players. In Christchurch I have seen heaps of people try to start but then disappear (although Christchurch hardly has any portals so I might be jumping to conclusions.)

The game significantly lacks virality IMHO.

The only reason it is getting any traction is because it has the Google name behind it (without the Google quality from what I have seen) and because it does attract geeks, especially geo-cachers :-)

Well look at that. I just got an invite email from my original request.

If gregmcc hasn't already got one...... hmmm.

Ditto, I would also like an invite is anyone has one laying around.
