networkn: Curious to know where people are buying their NZ based X1 and PS4's from ? Who has the best "deal" including freebies etc?

I pre-ordered a xbox one from mighty ape..
but I missed out on ps4 as they say "PS4 pre-sold out as of July 17th. Order today to reserve your place in the queue!" so if I ordered via them I might be in a long line waiting for it.

I would like to know where I can get a PS4 on release day as well.?

I pre-orderd the PS4 in NZ and then bought an extra controller and PS Eye from Amazon. It came to $140 USD shipped to NZ. Not sure if I'll save much (if anything) because the NZ price of the eye hasn't been announced.

I see you have a lot of games in that pre-order list. I'm NOT pre-ordering games (especially multiplayer games) as I want to have them installed on the console ready to play. I'm going to download them asap. If I can get them as download codes I'll happily do that.

Digital download on release day for me as well. Only buying limited/collectors edition on disc. UFB 100/50 connection ftw!

Buy the console locally as you may need the warranty, for games try somewhere like nzgameshop, saves quite a bit of cash as long as you don't mind waiting a week for delivery.

Why let EB games die?

I'm pre ordering from EB games its the only Video Gaming store left in my town, excluding places like JB hifi/Warehouse/Noel Lemmings etc.

Dont you think PSN game downloading will be extremely slow? Its always been slow for me on ps3. WITH OR WITHOUT VDSL..

How big do you think the games will be for download? I am tempted to get digital copies but im pretty sure 500gb would fill up way too quickly.

Do you think making a USA psn would work? I mean they get games for $60usd which is only $77NZD for us.

Actually, if you like movies, that's one of the best arguments to buy from the US instead of NZ.

If you get it in NZ it will be locked to Zone B to play NZ zoned films, which pretty much restricts you to NZ (+UK and AUS) suppliers. If you land from the US us will be locked to Zone A. So, while some locally brought films won't work (but, hey, Zone B Blu Ray players are sub-$100 if you need them), you will be able to play all films sourced from the US. This means you can order any films from Amazon etc in full confidence they will play.

Being able to buy from the US means you usually get better pricing, a *much* better range, and better release windows for new releases. Because it's a larger market, it can also mean better care taken with mastering, no risk of crappy NTSC-->PAL conversion jobs, and more attention paid to including extras etc.

I'd suggest it would be better to buy a multi-region or NTSC player than be stuck with a much more expensive US PS4 that you can't get easily repaired if it fails (which judging by the 360/PS3 is more common in new hardware).

Both PS4 and Xbox One are region free for games so physical discs will work regardless of the country you live in. I have purchased games from the US digital store on my NZ Xbox without using any VPN/DNS solutions and it works fine. When I sign in into the console with my US gamertag, Netflix/hulu+ etc shows up on the dashboard automatically due to the US gamertag. The same also applies to a US PSN account however you will need to check the digital purchasing via US PSN store in NZ from someone who has tried it here.

As for connecting to players on a multiplayer game with a US gamertag in NZ, I always connect to NZ/Aus players. I don't see how this would be any different on PSN.

Microsoft has announced that Xbox One games will be made available digitally on the same day as the physical disc launch. Sony has not announced anything as such BUT I did see their UI demo where the dude was purchasing Killzone Shadow Fall from the online store so here is hoping PSN will get the same privilege for all titles including third party.

Also,does anyone know where day one pre orders are still available in nz? EB games and Mighty ape are gone. Anyone know anything about other stores?
