Hey guys!

Just wondering, Do you think its wise to pre-order the ps4 in USA and then use you-shop to get it here. It would actually turn out much cheaper i believe and I might even get it a few days early :D

$400USD for PS4
$60USD for 2nd Controller
$60USD for Call of Duty: Ghosts
$60USD for DriveClub
$60USD for FIFA 14
$60USD for NBA 2K14
$60USD for Watch Dogs

About $980NZD
And about $200NZD customs duty.
TOTAL: $1180 NZD

If i were to purchase this in NZ, it would end up costing about $1380NZD.

So i am saving about $200NZD.

What do you guys think? Would it be a stupid move? I dont plan to use the PS4 for anything other than gaming - that means no bluray movies etc...

And ive read the ps4 is region free for games. So after i get the ps4, i can get games from here and play them like normal?

There would be no difference in multiplayer?

What are your thoughts? :PX

Is your TV NTSC capable? Most TV's these days are but you may want to check first.

Then what about the mains? Will it work on 240Volts?

I'm guessing that it will be fine but it may be worth checking out those things first.

How are you going to get around the 230/110 V thingy or are you 100% sure you can plug 230V into it and it won't blow up?

Is that including shipping costs? I imagine they'd be wire high for a heavy and delicate piece of equipment? Also theres the usual issue of not being able to drop it back into the store if something goes wrong with it as well. Worth $200?

...and then there are the problems you will have with warranty claims if it goes wrong (RROD YLOD anyone???)

If its anything like most US electronic devices these days, it should be 110v and 240v compatible. You would just need to change the plug.

I bought a Roku from the US. It worked on 240volts.

Separate the order then. Buy the PS4 on its own as its only $400 and that should not require GST

Yes it would be a stupid move in my opinion. The first time you need a warranty claimed, the $200 saving would be forgotten and only the headaches would remain.

....and then pay for multiple shipping costs? Might be cheaper, but would still eat into the 'savings'

Yeah, it is largely irrelevant with HDMI etc. I'm yet to see an HD-capable TV that doesn't support both 50Hz and 60Hz.

Also there can be DLC issues with US games used elsewhere.

You may also have issues as the games coming in wouldn't contain the correct ratings for NZ

For $200 I'd definitely buy locally and have the peace of mind that comes with a warranty and consumer laws in NZ.

It would be very different if the cost was half that, but these days you rarely see that.

PS4 does support 110V ~ 240V regardless of the country you buy it from.

My recommendation would be to purchase the console in NZ. You are covered under warranty and any CGA issues. Also Blu-ray movies are region locked in NZ so they will work too. Buy the games from overseas from the likes of nzgameshop or play-asia.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Yes NTSC and PAL are Analog Broadcast systems. Nothing to do with Digital Broadcasts/Mediums.
