You can do it online

http://www.thewarehouse.co.nz/red/catalog/product/PS4-Console-Online-Pre-order-Deposit?SKU=1717870

As far as I know the Warehouse are the only people who have pre-order day 1 PS4's for sale.

Finch: Just went to JBHifi, Dick Smith in Manners Mall, Harvey Norman Tory St, Noel Leeming Tory St.

All said no day 1 Preorders left.

Went into the Warehouse but was no one at the gaming area so left.

Looks like im out of luck :P

You are your own worst enemy I think.

You can still preorder online from the warehouse.....

If you really want the preorder .I think it is worthwhile.

The information they have on the website is wrong..

I got the real story from their Rep on Facebook..

Online
You get a $50 Deposit voucher,
we will send you an email 1-2 weeks before release with any offers.
you will need to place your order at least 3-4 days before release date,
we will then despatch to get to you for release day

In Store
You purchase a $50 Pre Order Card
Wait until the mailer hits your letterbox,
go into store and grab the offer that you want.
take it home
start playing

Online sounds good -- you put down a deposit to secure your preorder unit, pay the balance 3-4 days before release date, then it arrives on your doorstep on release day.

What is wrong with that ?

The first batch are supposedly sold out worldwide. If you missed out, then odds of getting one before Christmas unless NZ is able to rack up an immense amount of pre-orders to justify a 2nd batch allocation, is not good.

Some stores are very up front about this (JB HiFi, Sony themselves) but others like EB Games will try to avoid it as head office wants your money earning them interest, and The Warehouse staff probably won't have been told one way or another.

I talked to the warehouse staff over the phone and instore.

They were very certain that my preorder would be good for a day 1 unit.

Sorry to say, but I'll believe it when I see it. Good luck though.

Well, the preorder $50 is effectively a 'promise' to supply.  If the warehouse are issuing false promises this WILL appear in the media and I for one will not use the warehouse again.

But, time will tell.

Just from the Warehouse....

"Good afternoon,

Congratulations on securing your Shipment 1 PS4 Console. You will receive your console on the 29th of November! Yes launch day!

We will send you your unique pre-order code and details of the bundles that will be available for you to order. But don’t go sharing this information out, if someone else uses your pre-order code you won’t be able to get your console.

Once you have decided what bundle you want, order it online using your unique pre-order code, pay the balance and then sit back relax and wait for it to hit your doorstep on release day*.

Make sure you have your funding ready to have your order submitted by the 22nd of November 2013, so we have enough time to get all the parts of your order packed and ready to go.

Thanks
The Gaming and Online Teams.

P.S. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Services Team on 0800 RED SHED

*We will do our absolute best to get this to you on release day, however if there are any delivery problems it is possible it may not make it to you on this day."
