leo0787sx: Slightly off topic but getting a 500GB PS4 isn't a bad idea. You can buy a 2TB HD these days reasonably cheap and its easy to put in the PS4 and doesn't void the warranty. Have a 2TB in mine and its great.

whereabouts would you buy one from?  Only places I can find are overseas, pricespy etc dont really list 2.5" drives that big (unless I'm completely blind).

Seagate external 2.5 2TD slim HD from Harvey Norman or Noel Leeming. Remove the case easily, take out HD, put old 500GB PS4 HD in. Result, 2TB PS4 and 500GB external HD.

The external case has a join and you just use your nails and it comes apart really easy. Took me an hour though because I bite my nails and couldn't get it open. You can use a knife but risk scratching the case in case you wanted to sell it.

I must point out this voids the warranty on the HD but not the PS4. However if you are careful its hard to tell the case has been opened. I'd advise checking the HD first to make sure it works OK and you need to format it for the PS4 anyway.

$155 at Noel Leeming: https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/shop/computers/computer-accessories/storage-and-memory/external-hard-drives/seagate-stdr2000300-backup-plus-portable-drive-2tb/prod128085.html?ref=pricespy

thanks wasn't sure if you could do that on most external HDDs, thought they might of changed the sata/power connections or something.

This particular one is fine, fits perfect as its 9.5mm so must be the Seagate slim. The normal one is 12.5mm. There is a good guide on Reddit and shows how to open the external HD etc. Theres videos on YouTube too. However I would still use my nails over a tool, takes longer but protects the case.

I believe it must be the slim version so not sure that one will fit.

Slim:
Length: 113.5mm
Width: 76.0mm

That one is:
Length: 117.0mm
Width: 80.0mm

Sony just says:

  • 2.5 inch internal type (9.5mm or slimmer) *
  • Serial ATA (Parallel ATA is not supported)
* Proper operation is not guaranteed for all models. While other drive types may work, we only recommend using officially supported drives with your PS4 system.

I would recommend the slim just because people are using it and it works, can risk the other but its only saving about $20.

I had my 500GiB drive fail, ended up shoving a 750GiB SSD in it and the difference it made was just awesome. Only problem is the drive was worth more than the PS4.

Uncharted 4 is why I bought the PS4, and then Uncharted The Nathan Drake Collection was announced and I was like a kid at Christmas having never played 1, 2, or 3 before.  Just finished all three last weekend and was so impressed.  Definitely worthwhile if you're getting a PS4 to get that bundle.  Also The Last of Us Remastered - that game is perfection.

reven: yes IMO thats a great deal.  they also have a similar deal with an xbox 1tb, (tomb raider, rise of the tomb raider, halo 5, and halo master cheif collection for $525, TRs are download codes).  their website doesnt show the full xbox deal, but you can pick it up in store (well you could last week...)

I bought this the other day, but didn't get the first Tomb Raider - just the other 3. Is there are link or something that states I should have gotten this, so I can go back and ask for it?

the online one mentioned only rise of the tomb raider and halo 5.  I think they just mucked up and gave me two extra games (or every console comes with Halo MCC now).  The first tomb raider was in the same packet as the rise of the tomb raider packet for me.

Yeah, Halo MCC was sealed inside the box with the console for me where the other 2 were separate.

They initially tried to give me the first Tomb Raider instead of Rise, but I made them swap it for the correct one. And that was after trying to tell be that Rise of the Tomb Raider was an extra $55 on top of the $525. They were just looking at the website themselves trying to figure out what the deal was.

Not too worried about about the first Tomb Raider, already have on PS4 anyway - it was just the principle of it if I was being short changed.

I wasn't expecting Halo MCC; so that along with Halo 5, ROTTR, and the console for $525 is good enough for me.
