I actually scored a couple from the Warehouse red alert sale a couple of days ago. Bought one for me and one for a friend of mine. Waiting for it to arrive! I am quite surprised they havent provided wireless controllers to be honest

I saw that one too, but was too late and they had already sold out by the time I saw the email. Agree with the wireless controllers, apparently the cords are quite short (from what the EB guy told me, or is it for an additional controller?) so the only way to work that one out is to buy an extender :\

I managed to score one today from EB Games. Walked past their store in Auckland CBD this morning and asked if they were going to receive any stock soon, out of curiosity...and they had some in store! The guy couldn't tell me how many they had but it was limited. Needless to say I walked out of the shop with one laughing

They apparently have limited stock in the Botany branch too, as of this morning but again the guy couldn't tell me how many. They're not able to put any holds on them though.

Nice score!

I'm sure you love it. We're having all kinds of fun playing with my wife's one. Nintendo have done a near perfect implementation here, with the only real gripe being the pathetic controller cord length. I have no idea what they were thinking there.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to it, I'm a child of the NES generation :D Is the cord length that much of an issue? Opted out of buying one from EB but may have to resort to getting one if it's too problematic.

Cords are very short (approx 50cm).

You can buy third party wireless controllers for them though.

Depends on your setup. If you can get away with having a longer HDMI cable, you can move the console closer to your sitting position. That's what we currently do, but this will no longer work when we eventually move our TV further back from it's current position. We also have a bean bag we can utilise to sit closer to the TV, if required.

You can also buy controller extension cords, if required.

You need it close to hit the reset button to get to the save states and change games.

Now that there is a hack to put all the roms on I might give it a go when I have time.

One of the third party wireless controllers (can't remember which one) has the reset button on the controller.

Thanks for the tip richms. Noticed EB Games sell the UK version without the power adapter, plugging the USB in any powered source like your TV does the trick though.

I think that is standard for the ones sold here (we got ours from Mighty Ape). But we had an unused phone charger that we could utilise, so we power ours off a standard electrical outlet using h.is

Procrastination paid off. Never got around to ordering this, and now the SNES Classic has been released! Pre-order lodged. My ability to brainwash my children into liking the things I liked as a child will soon increase tenfold!

I've pre-ordered too!

HDMI output = awesomeness! It'll be the 'dumb' console I never have to muck around with / attempt silly things like streaming services. It's just gaming for gaming sake.
