So $60 US becomes $120 NZ. Yay for the NZ markup machine. Suppose I will put up with it just to get it sooner than from the US.

Or just emulate the games (as they appear to be doing with that unit) on your PC ;)

(Says the guy who still has 2 Amigas altho can emulate one perfectly)

Ive tried the nes and snes emulators and it doesnt feel the same. Mind you this is either upscaling or nativly outputing on HDMI so will have some latency there.

Cant beat the real hardware on a CRT for authenticity, but I cant even stand looking at a CRT anymore, as I found after bringing in the not done anything to it in 12 years arcade cabinet into the house and having a play with it.

I don't even have a CRT any more, so I couldn't connect one to a CRT for that "authentic feel" even if I wanted to.

I did try emulating this 4-5 years ago, with pretty good results. Interestingly, I was thinking about emulating them again last night, and have just ordered some replica NES and SNES controllers (two of each) off Amazon. Apparently they connect to USB, don't need drivers, and can be configured to work with the newer emulators.

They were pretty cheap - the shipping is probably costing as much, if not more, than the actual controllers.

Now eagerly awaiting the shipment to arrive.

I have some of the cheap ones from aliexpress, nes and snes shape and they are horrible. Its like the molds have been over used and there is really bad flashing around the edges, buttons jam etc. Planning on gutting them and using to connect to real arcade controls for the cabinet. The electronics work fine in them.

I might buy one of these, play with it until I get bored and then shove a Raspberry Pi in it.

I'm guessing these would be well gone by now, yeah? I've watched Twitter have a meltdown over EB and Target in Aus completely crashing with the amount of people trying to buy these. Wish I'd found out about htis earlier :/

Yeah. The trick is to be in the right place at the right time :-)

I caught the 'In stock!' tweet from Mighty Ape last week not long after they sent it, so managed to secure one for RRP (instead of the stupid markups on TradeMe).

I managed to score one today from EB Games. Walked past their store in Auckland CBD this morning and asked if they were going to receive any stock soon, out of curiosity...and they had some in store! The guy couldn't tell me how many they had but it was limited. Needless to say I walked out of the shop with one laughing

They apparently have limited stock in the Botany branch too, as of this morning but again the guy couldn't tell me how many. They're not able to put any holds on them though.

Nice score!

I'm sure you love it. We're having all kinds of fun playing with my wife's one. Nintendo have done a near perfect implementation here, with the only real gripe being the pathetic controller cord length. I have no idea what they were thinking there.
