I had boxed collectors set of Monkey Island, but sold it off years ago....... wish I had held on to it.

In that photo I posted, the Frontier box is actually the Amiga version, complete :)

There was a top down 3D version kinda version of PQ I really liked where you controlled a squad.

Also, another game I wish they remade nicely was Syndicate 1.

Now you are making me wish I still had my original version of Elite, and by original I mean for the BBC Micro/Electron. All other platforms were copies and therefore inferior... but with things like better graphics and/or music :D

Syndicate was awesome.

I too got into gaming through games like Police quest, Kings quest, space quest, original civ city, monkey island, the original duke nukem etc.  Though a lot of those were pirated so I didn't have the original boxes ;-)

I think I really got into the whole box collecting thing with the original fallout and baldur's gates games.

Syndicate on the Amiga rocked :)

Got the "new" FPS Syndicate on the PS3, and while it was well done, it left me wanting the original ;)

There was a Syndicate style game released recently, Satellite Reign, was OK, but couldnt get into it.

I think I bought that but didn't really get into it.  It was effectively just the original updated to run on modern OS and higher res screens right? And some bug fixes\minor quests?

Completely OT, but thinking of games that I cut my teeth on, can someone remind me of the name of that one were you played a kid who goes into space (I forget why) fights aliens and spends a lot of time jumping on a pogo stick? It was a side scroller.

Yeah it wasn't as upgraded as I'd hoped.

Are you talking about commander keen?

Ive still got my copy of Elite for the Acorn Electron in its original box..

When my parents moved house I reclaimed my Acorn Electron, Plus3 drive and the Slogger EPROM unit. Still have a new games on tape. ?Repton series, Ravens Skull. Lost my data tape recorder though.

Hardware sits next to my Atari 2600. Pacman, Space invaders.

One day will have to look into what ever attachments needed to plug in to a monitor.

Could put into the antenna input of my Bravia but its on the wall and I can get it down easily.

Happy days.

Well thanks for the trip down memory lane lol. I pulled them out and took a random sampling (well, the second set isn't so random - all the interplay\black isle\bioware stuff... still my favourites ;-) )  Sadly it looks like a lot of the older lucasarts boxes I had have gone missing... might be another box somewhere but could only find the original x-wing box.  Makes you realise that buying stuff on steam isn't quite the same :D

The set of Apogee (now called 3D Realms) shareware games was pretty good. I liked Wacky Wheels - racers that fire hedgehogs which can curve around objects.

Most if not all of them are now available on Steam, averaging NZD6 each.
