As a basic gaming PC it will be sufficient to play popular titles such as Fortnite, Valorant, etc. and even modern AAA games will run at low settings. 

If you want to spend $200 then this seems like a good option with the K2200. You won't find a better PC for gaming at that price point. The K2200 has similar performance to the GTX 1050. 

Only you know your kid, but if it were me I would get this $200 one, he will either get into it or he won't. If he does, then tell him to start saving up for a $2000 one, and if not, then you've only wasted $200 rather than $2000.
