How many wireless networks are detected in your area?
Could you temporarily try his wireless adaptor in your machine? You might be able to narrow it down to a problem with your current adapter. If you find it's your adapter you could just get a newer one.
Other than that I can't think of anything that's not difficult or expensive. Figure out a way to run an ethernet cable, look at ethernet over power options like the Netcomm HomePlug NP285.
I have a friend I play Left 4 Dead with that connects via wireless to his router and he gets these periodic lag spikes too I think some of these articles and this utility might be useful

First off, I wanna say thanks again Ragnor, it's really cool that you are taking time to help some random noob on the internet.
Anyway, I am not too confident regarding switching adapters with my brother's computer since I am not a whiz at putting stuff back together. Would it be roughly the same if I copy my WoW folder into a portable HDD and play it on his rig and see if I spike again?
And I have three wireless networks in my area, including mine, which are all low to no signal range and password protected. So is mine as well.

I read through all the links provided, have disabled that wireless probe thingy but the WoW servers are down for maintenance so I won't be able to test til then. Time to do homework I guess :)
did the cmd ping router thing and NO SPIKES WOO :) it's been a solid 5 minutes of 1-4 ms without a single timeout or lag spike.
No worries, I've been trying to work out this problem for my friend that I play Left 4 Dead with myself and the above tricks seems to have worked for him too.
a little update, it totally fixed my problem :) it's funny though since when i first had it, and googled it, this was one of the suggestions but after reading it i had the impression that it was vista only since i never had to do anything like this in the past four years to the multiple laptops i used while playing wow.
