Another update for anyone sending a Playstation 3 away..

When i rung them (the 09 auckland number), the voice message system says you can check your playstation repairs online, go to www.nz.playstation.com and enter in your serial number..

Well i went there, couldn't find it anywhere.. finally after a few emails back and forth to Playstation Support, they gave me the web address:

http://track.nz.playstation.com/

Just need to enter in your playstation serial number and it will tell you when it was checked it, current status of repair, and if they still have it in their possession.

Quite neat i thought, so i came to share it.

Well PS3 arrived this morning by courier.. and by the looks of the invoice (bill sent to extended warranty people) - they replaced the Bluray drive and the Harddrive.

Says under Service Performed:
"Changed and reformatted hard drive and blu-ray drive plus updated and tested all functions."

But anyway plugged it in, had a blat - seems its working great again :)

When my PS3 went in for something completely unrelated that's what it said on my invoice too, so a grain of salt is probably required...
