I think even die hard console fans will admit a mouse and kb is a much more precise/fast/effective control system than a console controller for most game types.

Umm, I don't quite get your logic... it really comes down to the design of the game as to what type of controller is more suitable. And I can definately say that, in my opinion anyway, AC2 is MUCH better with a controller rather than mouse and keyboard.
huxtable: I got Assassin's Creed 2 for my PC, and it's bloody brilliant.
YES, the DRM system is awfully draconian, HOWEVER I have not had a single problem with disconnections etc. Even when I went over my broadband cap, and was effectively on Dial Up speeds, I still never had any problems. Seriously, MOST people have a permanent internet connection on any PC they will be using for this type of gaming, so it's not the end of the world. .
Hope you don't wish to pull this out and play after they decide to decommission the DRM server ... or something to do when/if your internet dies one night. Or DNS plays up (waves to the recent 1.0.0.0/8 assignment to APNIC playing havoc with some cheaper ADSL routers).
