I'm not either.. But I have witnessed the 'addictive' psychological effects WoW has on today's society.. ;)

I used to be very addicted to WoW but now I play like once a month. I was lucky was I never had to buy any expansions or gametime as I have contacts. That's pretty much the only reason I've never fully quit.

I know this thread is a bit old just thought I'd add my 2c...

I wouldn't bother buying WoW right now especially not with your schedule although the game will last you a long time it will also cost you a ridiculous amount of money.

WoW is almost 7 years old now and I was playing the beta 8 years ago! Yes it's a great MMO the best ever made but to spend 200ish bucks on an outdated game is just outrageous... I really don't know why you have to buy every expansion pack for this game they should definitely have a good package deal available online to get playing straight away but they don't.

Also while Blizzard have done so many things to cater to the "casual" gamer you still need to invest a pretty large amount of time to actually be competetive in whatever regard. If you PVP you will need to play at least a couple of hours a day and even then it will take you months to get your character fully equipped. If you want to gear from PVE then you will have to join a guild that will expect you to invest more time at set hours.

If someone asked me if they should start WoW a year or two ago I would have recommended it but right now, no.

SW:TOR is coming out soon, made by Bioware one of the greatest RPG developers ever (the only games company to really rival the quality of Blizzard imo). It has "next gen" graphics compared to WoW, a TON of features that make it sound a lot more appealing, it will cost less since you won't have to buy all those expansions, etc etc.

The only reason WoW is so big is no one has really been able to challenge it.

LOTRO was a pretty poor game overall.

WAR was plagued with huge lag issues and general performance problems.

And lastly, WoW for an 8+ year old game engine really sucks in terms of performance... On my dual core laptop, 4gb ram, 512mb ati radeon graphics, I can't run the game on LOWEST settings without huge fps spikes when raiding. This computer runs NBA 2k11, Bad Company 2, Starcraft 2 and FIFA 11 all without issue and WoW remains poor.

The only reason wow is so big is because its so damn easy the lvling to 85 is pathetic there's to many kids playing this game now that's why blizzard have soften the grinding the more easier the more kids will play it.

@ OP.
Play the MMO Aion if you want a challenge the games graphics nice, the gear sets are very nice that gives you a reason to grind your backside off for months. Yes grinding is very hard later on this aint WoW where you can get to 85 in a matter of days. In Aion its going to take you months or even a year or more. More adults play this game theres far more maturity from players in Aion. Pvp side is fantastic pve is just as good.

Aion is the MMO for us oldies.

I'm looking forward to SW:TOR just because I loved the KOTOR games.
