I think maybe a misunderstanding. The New York Time game *is* Wordle. NYT bought the game from its developer on January 2022. And it resets at midnight NZ time.

Yes, originally from the UK, then bought by NYT.

A lot of NZ people knows about the game. The whole "sharing" the results wasn't in the original game for a while and it was added because a kiwi player started sharing on Twitter with those graphics so the original developer added it to the game later.
