I know this is more AV-Receiver related but thought I better mention to those who are thinking of passing their next gen console/graphics card @ 120hz through an AV receiver with hdmi 2.1 specs advertised.

Short version: bug found with passing hdmi at 120hz. 60hz fine.

will this receiver allow games to play at 120fps on tv that can't do 120 fps or still requires a tv with 2.1?

for example, my TV doesn't support 2.1 but would that change things if I connect PS5 to the receiver, then connect the receiver to the tv?

anyone who can clarify would be much appreciated 🙂

No it will not, the TV still needs to support the relevant HDMI 2.1 features (4K/120, VRR, etc).

You have to assemble it before you can use it? Is that right?

I don't think you have to, but judging by the unboxing video, its not that difficult

Yep - it comes as a kit like Lego. There’s build instructions or you can play the Sony teardown video backwards to see how to assemble it. Very cool. 😃

Actually, they are pranking us. They will give you a PCB and a lot of components with a small roll of solder and a station and we have to solder it together ourselves first. :)

I’m not sure that the game itself is quite my cup of tea - but the graphics are certainly impressive. I watched the clip on an iPad which has a decent res screen - and it looked fantastic.
