hmmm either Road Rash or Theme Hospital, old games which you could play for ages, and you never usually get bored of them

Thought of another couple..

Going back to primary school and our trusty Acorn Archemedies:

Lander:

We had another game that the WHOLE class got in on, and we would have competitions every morning tea/lunch.. it was called, Ferver.. cant find anything on it now however.

Pc..
Another world:

i remember being absolutley blown away with the intro to this game.. wish i could use some of the more common "James the nintendo nerd's" famous quotes, on how hard this game is though..

Another World was the first game i played on pc, and a side scrolling shooter called mansion or something where you ran through houses with a shotty blasting zombies. First FPS games were Duke nukem and Quake which both came out the same time or few months apart. One game that got me glued to the monitor was 'Aces of the Deep' Where you commanded a German U-boat in the Atlantic during World War II sinking british shipping. Was fantastic as the campaign was dynamic meaning each time you went on patrol it was different. I played that game for about 2 yrs.

Reading this thread has brought back some memories of games gone by.

I loved the Command and Conquer series, but the Diablo series will always be tops for me, can't wait for Diablo 3 to be released.

Recently went to a LAN party with about 20 of us there and played some hardcore DOTA, Diablo 2, Warcraft 3 etc!

Good times!

Another world was a pretty cool game i agree.

haha, This Jewish woman once told me in the subsim forums. As i asked her why does she play Silent hunter 3 which is based on german u-boats during WW2 as she lost relatives to the nazis in the death camps, the game does glorify the german uboat sailors. Her answer: 'Its just a game'. She didn't care one bit that she was playing a game where it involves playing as the germans & sinking the allies shipping. So if a jewish woman can play this game I have no shame playing it. :)

After Aces of the deep came the Silent hunter series first one was based on american submariners, then Silent Hunter 2 and Silent Hunter 3 was on German Uboats, SH-4 went back to Americans v Japanese empire and now Silent hunter 5 which is out sometime this year is back to the German Uboats again.

This game is really only for navy buffs like myself other gamers will find it totally boring - you can spend hours traveling to your destination in the Atlantic - sinking ships on the way. But gamers have got to check out SH 5 images of the game, just plain awesome. Ubisoft have come a long way from the day to fat pixels & cartoon type colors to now so damn realistic detail thats it close to being there.

Descent & Descent II. I remember being very excited waiting for Descent II to get to a shop near enough for me to buy (grew up in Africa). Although I don't think I ever managed to finish II... still got it hanging around somewhere, even ended up playing it on my modded Xbox.

Loved all the Keen games too. And wasted far too much time playing nethack... although that wasn't necessarily PC based.
