Well i've got Battlefield 3, Saint's Row 3 and Gears of War 3 on pre-order and my brother in law has Skyrim on pre-order.

As for DRM and that it's BS you pay for the games you should not have to prove it to play online.  Like a previous post the companies punish the legitimate buyers and the pirates get to do what they like.  This and the exorbitant pricing they have is why piracy will never die.

Even come September 1st anyone who is serious about downloading or just there ability to do what they like online will have a VPN in place. It's hose who don't know enough about these sort of things that will get punished.

Hot tip: actually, they can begin gathering evidence against you as of August 11th, September 1st is merely when the law kicks in allowing them to file notices against you.  Any downloading between August 11th and September 1st can potentially get you a notice.

See http://3strikes.net.nz for more on that.

MY REPLY IS OFF TOPIC AND IM SORRY FOR THIS Gaming will be discussed at the end

Well even though you assume that by me saying those in the know will simply choose a VPN to hide their downloading habits that i must be one of them.

I have been known to download the occasional thing (like a lot of NZ'ers) and have even been caught out before with infringement orders being issued to me (3 to be precise 1 for a movie and 2 for xbox games I now own both the xbox games I got and I wish i could have the 90 minutes back of my life on the movie lol). I am nearly 40yrs old and have done this since I was a teen (copying and sharing content with friends and family etc that is).

When I was younger it was so I could get games for free and that was disk to disk copying or if movies break out 2 video players or get it from a friend who had done likewise already. Now I'm older I download the occasional tv shows most of which are not available in NZ or just take way to long to get here. If there were decent alternative to viewing or getting them in NZ then I would.

I go to the movies regularly (2 times in last 8 days about a dozen since start of year) , I buy dvd's and blu rays (movies and tv shows), have a extensive music collection on my pc and on cd. What I was saying i that the law is not going to effect people who do a lot of downloading plus look at the odds of getting caught 3 times in 20 yrs hardly is worth even bothering to get a VPN at all.

Problem is that companies see copyright infringement as a lost sale at every turn a lot of others will say and treat it like shareware a try before you buy. I have never downloaded any NZ content I haven't owned and or currently do own. Maybe the govt will one day work towards giving us affordable alternatives and also the isp's data caps to make these things available to the every day users / consumers like myself who cry out for legal avenues at affordable rates obviously.

I am fully aware of the gathering of data prior to September exists but simply don't care enough as on the tiny chance I get a notice I will simply go off and get access to a VPN that holds no records. Unlike others I openly admit that I download stuff. I don't go and say well I was just downloading Linux ISO's as looking at some of the data usage of people on here I am pretty sure they're not all Linux ISO's.

NOW ONTO THE GAMING

I forgot to mention yesterday that I have also just got myself (I mean my kids) a Kinect. Games I am getting for this are Yoostar 2, Dance Central (may skip to DC 2) Once Upon A Star (The Sesame Street title), The Disneyland Park one and also like the idea of Forza 4 tracking where I'm looking whilst racing and lastly UFC Trainer. Hopefully most of these will be before Xmas.

Now for the cost of less than the adaptor ($30 - $50) needed to play Kinect on my old White Xbox I could download all of these games (this is in total too not each) as I could any other xbox title but I simply will not do that as I really enjoy playing online with my Xbox Live friends as gaming has gone from being a all the time thing to just every now and thing for the social side more than the gaming itself. Oh for those who say but you can play online with a modded console not mine I got console banned from live.

I feel if you download anything at all and like it buy it I generally do and it's a great way to support the people who put their time and effort into making gaming the biggest and most enjoyable entertainment industry.

Just when some good games are coming out I decide to become a poor student haha!
I think if I do scrap up the money though it'll be for BF3, looks so much better then COD MW3 and has more hype. Let's hope it doesn't disappoint

Judging by the videos and if plays anything like Bad Company 2 MP, I'd be a happy chappy.

I'll just rent COD out for my PS3...  bugger if I'm paying full price for that franchise anymore.

Just Pre-Ordered Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 from Steam, cost me $74NZD, thats crazy cheap. Glad I Pre-Ordered instead of getting it at full price when it comes out in a couple months

What games will you be waiting for the reviews before buying?

Another reason I often don't preorder is because the hype machine often spins the promotional material to make the game look more awesome than it is.
Prime example: Duke Nukem Forever. So glad I didn't buy/pre-buy after reading the scathing reviews, but the preview features were so glowing with excitement and praise!

Will be waiting for credible reviews and specials for all of them except maybe Skyrim.
