Hey all

The run up to Christmas this year is going to be huge for the gaming industry, with heaps of big name titles coming out.
Just curious as to what your priorities are especially if you're on a tight budget like me!

Also I personally am getting slightly sick of the plethora of FPS titles which means my list is favouring other genres here.

This is the order I'll be making my purchases though I don't usually pre-order (I like to read reviews first) unless there is an extra incentive (bonus content or whatnot).

1) Batman: Arkham City
2) Gears of War 3 (the only reason I've kept my xbox after upgrading my PC)
3) Star Wars: The Old Republic
4) Rage
5) Battlefield 3
6) Assassin's Creed: Revelations
7) Dead Island
8) COD: MW3

Not really an RPG fan (unless Mass Effect / KOTOR counts) but other big titles before Xmas include

LOTR: War in the North
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Whats your list? Have you pre-ordered? Or plan to wait for a sale?

My plans are to pre order BF3 & COD MW3 next month, and look at purchasing Arkham City later on in the year, Arkham Asylum was fantastic but I will no doubt be playing MW3 and BF3 alot so will have no time for AC.

True, gotta find the time to play them all as well!

Some can be a pretty big commitment especially if you add in the mulitplayer. Games like COD: MW3 I probably won't bother with the multiplayer since I figure it won't be much different from MW and MW2.

I need a fresh new online experience to really bother to commit the time (i.e. Portal 2, L4D2, Modern Warfare 1, and likely Rage, Star Wars: TOR and Dead Island)

Battlefield 3 and Saints row 3, both look amazing. So much so, its time to invest in a new pc.

I am getting BF3 on Xbox 360 for sure. Not so sure on COD-MW3. Might skip it because I have bought all the DLC's for black ops and have been spending too much time playing it. Need to play BF-BC2 more often as well.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Too many games , too little time.

I will only buy BF3 ( $73 on preorder).   Even then, i'll probably only get 1 or 2 hours a week.  I do find many games are quite similar which gets boring.

Skyrim (the most important game for me)
Battlefield 3
Diablo 3

Diablo 3 just read we will need internet connect for single player as well - no offline option. This is bad but wont stop me from getting it.

Dead Island has been getting some mediocre previews on Gamespot and IGN, looks like I can probably strike that one from the list until the Steam Christmas sale

I just finished the story in Batman Arkham Asylum. Good game but I was kind of disappointed in the length (on hard), it was only ~20 hrs worth of gameplay.  Basically I'm glad I got it on Steam special and not new, based on this doubt I will pre order Arkham City, to be fair haven't tried the challenge modes yet.

TBH I'm fairly jaded about the yearly releases of Battlefield and COD.  I'm sure I will get them at some stage but not interested in pre-ordering these either.

Can't wait to see Skyrim and Diablo III.  Recent news for Diablo III is a bit worrisome though, have to be online for single player and real money auction house.. wtf.

Reading more about Diablo III, sounds absurd beyond measure.

With the real money auction house you effectively can buy power, acquire the best gear with money, how sad.

And...
Blizzard takes a fee on auction listing, even if it doesn't sell.
Blizzard takes a fee on auction win, success fee.
Blizzard takes a fee when you try to cash out your money.

Failed ubisoft style DRM ie: must be online for single player which means there is no offline single player.. want to play on your laptop on a plane... too bad.

No LAN

Blizzard has jumped the shark with this one. I'll be looking at seriously looking at Grim Dawn or Torchlight 2 instead TBH

Actually yeah its not looking good, why an auction house?  So I can buy the gear if I can't be bothered grinding through the game. We can thank Activision for this bs.    Torchlight was a good game I just wish it wasn't so cartoony but a good dungeon crawler anyway. Torchlight 2 looks promising might even turn out  better than Diablo 3 if blizzard keep bs us around.

I've pre-ordered TOR but not expecting that to arrive until christmas. Assassins Creed in November will carry me over I hope (assuming we get it at launch), I'm really looking forward to seeing how they tie up Ezio's story.

LoTRO has the Rise of Isengard expansion launching at the end of September so patiently waiting for that also...

Mass Effect 3 earlyish next year, busy times indeed!

and game companies wonder why people pirate there games. Guaranteed that the pirated version will be able to be played offline , which the majority of gamers want to do.

I definitely think twice about buying games with heavy DRM. Especially after the awful PC version of Splinter Cell: Conviction.
Pretty sad to see Blizzard going with this route, I was never a Diablo fan anyway, but still.

You don't see devs like CD Projekt Red (who released The Witcher 2 with zero DRM) complaining about lost sales.
