Then I checked my emails and found an automated email from 5:59am saying they were back in stock so my dog is a hero this morning for waking me four minutes after the orders opened.

Hope everyone else hoping to get hold of one is successful!

Interesting, I never got an email from Mighty Ape. Had pre-registered interest prior to the intial pre-order and saved it to my wishlist. Logged on at 7am this morning and was already too late. Ah well. Paying for a wedding at the moment so I couldn't really justify the expense anyway. Perhaps a post wedding treat next year!

Controller is a little larger and has more heft to it than DualShock 4 - feels great.

Love the little Media Remote that I bought with it - has matching styling aesthetic.

I am sure you know this, but digital consoles will not allow the upgrade to PS5 versions for PS4 disks you own, right?

IE none of your PS4 disk games, will be upgradable.

100%. I'm done with changing discs and buying disc copies of games requires the same amount of storage space to install the games as on a digital version.

Planning on selling my PS4 Pro + disc games to a mate who doesn't have a PS Plus account so it will be nice for him to have a little stash of games to start with, and I can subsidize my new console with those funds too = win/win.

It's the same as the Xbox. It requires the disk of the PS4 version to be in the drive, so you can't just "upgrade" to PS5 version then sell the old one.

Problem I found with the digital game route is: digital copies are more expensive, are never in the second-hand market, and you can't lend nor borrow them. It's also less useful in a family home with more than 2 playstations too.
Swapping discs makes it an acceptable inconvenience for those reasons.
