It's an incredibly competitive price but I don't recall reading if it comes with the new PSEye thingy too. If it does then damn, MS has some work to do. Otherwise it's pretty similar pricing.

I'm impressed, and thankful, that console makers have gone away from the ever increasing prices of new consoles. +$1k was getting tiresome given how expensive the games are.

It won't include the Eye, as seen in the pics with the price it is missing.

I have preordered with Mighty Ape Laughing

NonprayingMantis: PS4 confirmed at mighty ape for $649 NZD (based on $399 USD price)

Official word from Sony it's $649.95. So if that was an estimate based on US prices, it's confirmed.

  • PlayStation4 system × 1
  • Wireless Controller (DUALSHOCK4) × 1
  • Mono headset × 1
  • AC power cord × 1
  • HDMI cable × 1

headset?  that's cool.

I remember the PS3 didn't include an HDMI cable either, which was a massive pain in the butt.

PS4
$399 USD = $506 NZD + GST = $582 NZD retailing here for $649 NZD
so $67 above converted price

compared to

Xbox One
$499 USD = $633 NZD + GST = $727 NZD and retailing here for $749 NZD
Only $22 above converted price

I'm a bit disappointed with the HDD size of 500gb to be honest. Fingers crossed it's upgradeable, would love to see a console with an SSD in it.

old3eyes: Bet it won't allow you to play secondhand games on it..

Wrong.

PS4 has not been crippled with DRM, unlike the new xbox.

Maybe sony have finally learnt from their disastrous experience with music DRM.

Personally, I'd buy the ps4 simply for this reason.

A full $100 bucks below the Xbox is good news, and 350 beow what people in this thread were predicting, albeit without the camera which I don't really care about anyway.

dylandylandylan: Ram's cheap as chips these days, so it doesn't surprise me too much, it is amazing though, faster games etc, I wonder if they're going to use a mechanical or SSD?

The mainstream ram is cheap, I wouldn't be so sure about next gen ram.

Also a bit disappointed that PS+ is required to play online. I was probably going to get PS+ anyway as I own a Vita and it would be good to have a constant stream of games for it but I now feel obliged to get it and I don't like that. It was always the biggest turn-off for me when it came to Xbox.

Man, the PS4 seems like so much win! Really glad for Sony, who need some wins about now. Can't believe the tidal wave of anti-Microsoft sentiment right now, so many xbox fans changing because of the restrictions they have imposed. Hope on purchase day that they go through with it and send MS a strong message about what consumers think of DRM and restrictions on the freedoms of end-users.
