@networkn that was San Andreas.  It was a novelty for a while.  I remember me and a mate spent hours and hours taking Carl to the gym and getting him super buff.  Then I made the mistake of turning off the TV and going to bed but not pausing the game, so when I turned it on the next day Carl had withered away to a weedy wimp again because he hadn't been fed/exercised/etc for about 15 hours LOL

Yeah, SA, I recall now. My favourite of the franchises, the car driving stuff was so much fun, unlike GTA IV!

I guess I am just focussed on the game being fun. Spiderman had lots to do, but it was fun to do for almost everything.

I don't mind if I have to take a player to te gym to get him buffed up, so long as it's permanent and makes him more useful for the rest of the game.

Yeah I got a screenshot from someone I know who was preloading it at 3am this morning.

I won't even get to play it till I get back from Melbourne, after which you will have had it for 4 days.

I can't decide what version to get. I keep getting drawn to the special edition but I don't like that it has game play enhancers, it's also $140.

I only ever go for the standard edition of digital games.  Add-ons are inevitably on special in a couple months anyway.  And getting an extra costume or whatnot doesn't equate to $30 for me.

Same actually.

If I know a game is likely short, and there is a special on the season pass included, or something like that, or if it's a special franchise for me (say xcom for example) I do sometimes consider it, but I usually stick with standard.

Often there are freebies included that I activate and never use anyways.

I've been wondering if part of the reason Rockstar avoid releasing the PC version at the same time as consoles because they know there are gray market key resellers that will often offer steep discounts over XBL/PSN/Steam. I remember one dev saying those cheap keys are in many ways worse than pirates. They lose actual money through charge backs / more often than not they're stolen keys. G2A is notorious for this.  So delay the PC version 6-12 months. Use the "optimization takes time excuse" Let the console hype die down then get the double dippers and at least guarantee some sort of profit.

Here's an interesting read up on the whole thing and probably part of the reason why the PC version gets a delayed release. https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/4fntxu/gray_market_key_resellers_and_what_they_mean_for/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=usertext&utm_name=pcmasterrace&utm_content=t1_d6mexmw

Pre-ordered and downloaded the standard version last night. Looking forward to next weekend! Wish it had come out a few days ago given the long weekend here.

Use your phone or tablet to track the map in RDR2:

I often want a companion app that has a games codex and beastiary info, and other lore collectable story items, which syncs with your progress in the game. That way I can read lore and other info when I'm in bed or traveling to work rather than in the game when I inevitably skip the lengthy reading in favor of actually playing the game! Some games have brought out apps but they don't go far enough imo.

Yep - this is one reason why I often buy the big game guide book for A-list games - as I have done for RDR2.

I recall Fallout 4 had an app that put your Pip Boy on your phone or iPad and that included the map I think.

Maps I don't care about.  That's more of a 2nd screen thing when playing the game.  I'm not going to be reading maps when I'm not sitting there playing the game.   Using Tomb Raider as an example, it's all the relics and diaries and letters you pick up that give you context about an area or character or back story etc.  I can't be bothered sitting there for 2-5 minutes reading/listening to those each time I pick something up.  Much rather be able to browse that stuff at leisure when I'm in bed or commuting.  That way I'd also be thinking about the game when I'm not playing the game, which can only be a good thing for the developers :)

Horizon Zero Dawn was a great example of this because the lore was exceptionally interesting, but there was just SO MUCH of it that getting into it in-game was never going to happen for me.

After promising me a few weeks ago that I would receive my copy by courier on Fri 26, the supplier I pre-ordered from emailed me at 2 pm today saying he couldn’t give it to the courier until tomorrow (Fri 26) and that he hoped I would get it Saturday.

Well, I could see that being Monday or Tues, so I cancelled my order and now will have to try and find a store that has some physically available tomorrow.

I live on Auckland North Shore so will try JB (x 2), HN, Warehouse, PB Tech etc.
