I am not entirely sure it's a good idea for me to have *more* voices in my head lol
Ninja Theory put out a bunch of dev diary videos about the making of the game, they're fascinating https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbpkF8TRYizaT6GfMcKBG-RoUOQ6BJRXp
Man some of these guys look tough.

I don't really like Mulitplayer games, with the exception of playing with 1 friend for Borderlands 2 which I can no longer get working, and Portal co-op I enjoyed. I don't have the time to become good enough to compete online.
Yeah, this is my experience too. I really enjoyed completing Destiny 2's campaign mode up to the end of the Rasputin one, but any time I try to play Strikes or similar I find myself on a team with a bunch of guys who are WAY better than me. I can't even understand half of the discussions on Reddit around this game! I still enjoy dipping in to do a bit of shooting and exploring, but there's less and less of that available without getting into the multiplayer stuff.
I only play probably 3-4 hours per week, so I'm never going to get to the level of those guys.
I recently completed the God of War III reboot, which was great, so I quite fancy the most recent episode of that. My son has Spiderman on his PS4 so I might give that a go. I was very keen on the new Tomb Raider game, but a mate of mine finished it and said the 2nd half was rubbish. Likewise, I'm hearing that Fallout 76 is all about the multiplayer stuff. That just doesn't seem to work for us casual players.
Cheers,
Martin

Currently I have two games in heavy rotation, and a couple more in the background.
Escape from Tarkov is my current online/multiplayer game of choice. Very hardcore tactical shooter with a decently steep learning curve, but oh so amazing. Game is till in Beta, but absolutely playable and constantly being developed, the dev's are very active on Reddit and are amazingly responsive.
Hearts of Iron 4 is my current offline/singleplayer game of choice, with occasional forays back to Crusader Kings 2, Civ 5/6, and Dwarf Fortress.

@mgbridges Spiderman has been game of the year for me. I'd tackle that next. I had the best time with that. I am hoping the expansion is good.
Do you know whether I'd be able to install the game on my own PS4 (son has it on his own PS4 downstairs in his lounge)? I'm not sure how the copy-protection works on PS4 games.

If they're logged into the same account you can install it, but one of the PS4's needs to be set as the primary device for the account.

Cool - the upstairs one is set as Primary for me, secondary for my son & the downstairs is vice versa. Should work OK then. Might try it at the weekend.

In order to gameshare digital psn games/dlc you need to set the ps4 that you want to play on as your Primary device with the account that owns the content. If you don't do this you can still download and play the game on your sons account but any other account that tries to access will get locked out.
Ie. you'd be able to log in and play all your sons games on the downstairs ps4 that are installed as well as install your own. Your son could do the same upstairs on your ps4, but if you decide to play upstairs on your son's games you'll be locked out and vice versa.
Discs are easy, pop it in and anyone can install and play it. The discs serve no other purpose other than getting v1.0 to you and acting as a key to unlock your game.

Sorry, it's possibly because I haven't had enough coffee yet today, but I'm confused!
My son has installed Spiderman (using the disc) on his PS4 (which is set to Primary for his PSN account and Backup for my account). If I stick the disc in my PS4 (which is set to Primary for my PSN account) it will install OK, but I won't have access to the DLC that my son has downloaded on his PS4, yes?
Thanks,
Martin

Ah, sorry for the confusion. Setting the 'Primary' ps4 is not needed for physical blu-ray discs. Anyone who has the disc in the ps4 can play the game at any time on any account. You can't register the game per se to an account like you would a digital purchase.
Gamesharing is the digital version of lending people your disc. Normally if you buy something digitally only the account that bought it would be able to access it eg. Steam on PC. With playstation accounts, if you set a device as a 'primary' device any other accounts logged in to that device are able to access installed content, regardless of whether they own it.
The caveat is of course you can only have one 'primary' device so if you log into a ps4 that isn't set then any other accounts won't be able to access anything. The account that owns the content will always be able to access purchased items.
DLC's are bit tricky. If DLC content comes on disc or is attached to your PSN account then it usually can be shared. If it applies a code or benefits to a third-party account (think buying cosmetic items on Fortnite or micro-transactions in a Ubisoft game) then it can't be shared as it's content on a different service.
The reason I called the disc a 'key' is because you need it to launch and play a game, only one person can use it at a time. It installs base content to the hard drive but thats it, it's only used as physical DRM. With digital games two people can play the same game that was only purchased once at the same time (on two consoles), the caveat being you can't resell the game later as it's attached to your account.
