sonic1989: as expected, i’m enjoying the demons souls remake so far. i seem to be doing better than during the ps3 days😁

I never had a PS3 so this is my first time playing it, but I've got the first two bosses down! 😁

Played through a few hours of Miles Morales on Fidelity mode last night.  Wow, so pretty, and the enhancements to combat for Miles vs Peter from the original game are great.  I think the story is shaping up very well too.  Sometimes the city looks ultra realistic when you're swinging through Manhattan.  It's incredible.

The controller really is transformative.  I hope devs to more with it over time.  I described it to my friend last night as almost like the surround sound version of a controller.  Once you use it you'll know what I mean.  Make sure to play through some of the Astro game that comes out of the box to get a good understanding of what it can do.

I agree with everything said so far. Other than the obvious improvements of the hardware on the Xbox Series X from a processing perspective (which feels huge), it feels a bit meh to me, but the PS5 + PS5 controller is a massive generational step. Because I had a SSD in my PS4 Pro, the performance increase isn't as noticeable.

I was flicking between Fidelity and Performance mode last night on Miles Morales.  You have to reload from the most recent save to do that.  Honestly it was like the blink of an eye .... the screen fades, the screen comes back in.  That kinda thing would have taken a while on PS4 even on my SSD.

I was cleaning the garage on the weekend and found my Xbox (just 'xbox' as it was the only one at the time). It still works and my son thinks it's awesome.

google about the clock capacitor because those are ticking timebombs in some models of them.

Anybody on older hardware (receivers/TV) had experiences using this yet? All my stuff is HDMI 2.0 so I'm interested to know how things work out. Given there is no 1440p option (yet), I have a feeling that I'm going have issues with 4k/HDR being limited to 30hz unless dropping the YCbCr works (or is possible)?

I'm on a HDMI 2.0 TV currently with 2.1 on the boat as I type. It's a 65" UHD LCD.  So not excellent but not crap.  Looks great, noticeable improvement over 4.  60FPS is silky smooth too.

Are you able to run 4k/60 with HDR?

60fps is performance mode for Miles Morales, that is not true 4k it's upscaled and turns off ray tracing but keeps HDR.  To keep all visual enhancements and 4k is locked to 30fps but that's game specific not console/TV specific.

So... really happy I got my PS5 yesterday. But have not received any games from MightyApe yet (courier delay as usual) but I have finished and collected everything on AstroBot lol.

Only 1 issue at the moment. Spotify got stuck on "Queued for download" and there is nothing I can do to cancel or delete it. it just won't download. :/ anyone else having the same problem?

I bought Dirt 5.   More arcade than simulation. Chuck it on split screen, 2 car's race each other -- old school fun, me and the boy duking it out for pole position haha.

Astro thingy is a boring game where the only interest is to experience the full capabilities of the controller vibration and trigger force feedback.  The weirdest bit is blowing into the microphone to spin fans.

Downloaded a few of the free psplus PS4 games  -- some really good games too.

Next game might be call of duty cold war.

Anyone recommend it? Some bad reviews on pre-release versions . No post-launch reviews out yet.

Getting jealous so need to stop coming to this thread. I guess one plus side of missing out on the first two batches is that if there's eventually more stock next year there might be combo package deals with an extra controller or a game or something that makes it a bit cheaper than buying each thing separately which usually happens after the initial launch

You may get a (rubbish) game in 2022 but the I've never seen an extra controller bundle.

Don't be disheartened, more stock will come in for sure!

I skipped the PS4 generation (in fact this is the first PS I've actually bought - previously PC / Nintendo / emulation only. So - lot's of back catalog of PS4 games to work through now :)

Start with The Last of Us Remastered. It's one of the PlayStation+ Collection games.

sonic1989: did anyone realised day one software update 0.8gig to be super slow? mine says 6 hours till download is complete

Did mine about 10:00PM last night. Was lightening fast for me. Wasn't timing it, but felt less than a minute. Definitely better than PS4 updates used to be. I've got GB fibre here, and the PS5 is on Ethernet.
