Just ordered the digital edition from The Warehouse click & collect.

Will be my first Playstation - now I've just got to plan how to tell the missus.

So I went to the warehouse site searched for PS5

Clicked on picture of PS5

Then cart appeared

The asked for my details and card...

Then I got this email confirming my order....

#@!#!!

So after 30 minutes of intermittently pressing refresh on JB site only to see its 3pm (see above)

I follow @paul1977 and I think Ive bought a PS5.....

Much easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

You can add to cart from the search page on The Warehouse so that worked.  Grabbed a digital version.  I already have the disc version, I mainly grabbed this as I have a few mates who want a PS5 and haven't been able to place an order so I'll offload to them at cost.  And if that doesn't pan out I'll post here for a GZer to grab it.

I think I must have jumped on The Warehouse site right after they listed the disc version, as the digital edition didn't appear until after I'd actually ordered the disc one. Just as well it was the disc one I was after!

Was complete luck, I hadn't even been watching this thread to know that JB had some - I was just randomly checking the Warehouse site.

I'm happy if I helped anyone secure a PS5. I'm sure JB won't be too concerned about losing the sales, there are plenty of other buyers!

I'm just refreshing The Warehouse site now to see how long before they sell out!

If I haven't had a PS since version 2, is there any advantage in getting the disc version over the digital?

I presume one advantage would be I could use it as a DVD player. Are there any other advantages?

Thanks

As far as I know the only difference is the disc drive. If you're planning on only buying digital copies of games, and have no need for a DVD/BD/4KBD player, then I don't think there's any advantage to the disc version.

But sometimes games (especially new release ones) will be on sale in stores for the disc version but the digital version will still be full price. These days I just get annoyed having to load discs, so only buy digital - if it costs a little more I think of it as a convenience tax.

I only got the disc version console because I already have some PS4 games on disc that I don't want to repurchase as digital.

So I used the search technique to order one on The Warehouse since I have no idea if the JB Hi Fi one will get fulfilled. I figure worst case I will have two and can sell one of them to recoup my costs (not scalping).

It's not scalping if you put it on Trademe with a reserve at the RRP. If people choose to bid higher, that's on them.

Yeah I figured that. Will see if I even end up getting any though.
