Be aware that there is a cheat out for Wordle. Only mediocre results can be accepted at face value. Any others depend on whether you'd play golf with the player and accept their score card šŸ˜‰

Honestly, it was just a fluke. I use the strategy of using words with three common constants and two vowels first, then adjusting on the second. So today, I did that and was very surprised. Normally I’m at the 3/6 to 6/6 level.

The fact that a cheat existed just came up on a news feed. I'm not finger pointing just mentioning that 1 or 2 guess results will creep in as it starts getting used.

I guess you could:

1. Edit the emoji array manually
2. Solve it once, go incognito and solve it a second time in 1 go.
3. Google for the answer
4. Use a word list builder
5. Just not cheat!

Yep, but like golf, you may impress your friends, but the truth is in your brain. Be fair to yourself.

If you want to cheat, the full list of answers are in the source code, seemingly in date order. This spoils the fun quite a bit...

I pulled out the list to do some analysis, but the first thing I did was sort the list alphabetically so I wouldn't inadvertently see tomorrow's answer.

There are 2315 words that are possible answers. These are mostly pretty reasonable words. In total there are 12972 words which are accepted as valid 5 letter words, a lot of these are quite archaic, or words from other languages that are not commonly used in English such as "vozhd", "proyn", "myxos" or "zobus".

In terms of starting words, if you want to match the most words, the best choice is "aurei" which matches at least one letter from 95.1% of possible answers. The worst choice is "jumby" which matches 50.0% If you want the to get the most letter matches, "orate" will give you 1.79 letters on average, and "jumby" is still the worst choice with 0.63 letters.

However, I'm not sure that getting the most matches is the best option for a starting word. It isn't super useful to know that the word contains an "e", but it is much more useful to know that it has a "k" in it. I think fewer vowels and more consonants can be helpful, especially if you want to play in hard mode.

Today I started with adieu and yacht, to maximise vowels and consonants, knowing that the A already failed. Today it didnt help, another day I could be awash with clues
