Great...

No PS5 for me if I am on the kiddie school run.

I won one through a prize, happy to sell to you at whatever the shop price is, the only thing being I am not certain exactly when it gets here. Could be a few weeks.

The Warehouse stock lasted longer than I thought it would, but what happened with JB Hi-Fi? I can't even see the PS5 on their site now?

Expect a lot of PMs from people who didn't manage to get one from todays stock.

That's fine. So long as everyone understands I am not sure on exact delivery time, and they may have to wait, I am not worried either way.

So I used the search technique to order one on The Warehouse since I have no idea if the JB Hi Fi one will get fulfilled. I figure worst case I will have two and can sell one of them to recoup my costs (not scalping).

It's not scalping if you put it on Trademe with a reserve at the RRP. If people choose to bid higher, that's on them.

Yes it. Selling anything that is in short supply for more than the face value of the list price is scalping.

  • List it with a reserve and let desperate people bid it up. That's on them, but it's still scalping
  • List it at $1,200 and some desperate soul decides they're going to bite. That's on them too

I have no problem with someone putting in two orders as a back up then moving one on at list price. But please don't try to justify scalping by saying "it's on them". Doesn't matter what mechanism you use, it's scalping.

I was trying to help my brother in law secure a unit online from JB during the 9am and 3pm rushes. What an embarrassment..

In response, they have finally made a first-come-first-served waitlist system available which probably makes more sense that investing in extra capacity and performance testing services for these rare events  - see https://www.jbhifi.co.nz/ps5form/

Was late to the Warehouse party, ended up refreshing every 5 mins for a couple hours while working. Managed to snag a digital edition that popped up, added to my cart no problem. Thought it was a fluke, but payment went through fine.

Don't give up lads

I disagree. We’re not talking about once in a lifetime concert tickets. This is an item that in a couple of months anyone will be able to walk into a store and purchase at RRP.

If people are too impatient to wait and are willing to pay more then they obviously have too much money and I don’t feel at all sorry for them.

Thanks for the offer.
I managed to pickup one from warehouse.
Staggered by how easy it was but most likely the stars just lined up.
Another GZer posted warehouse had then and I was online straightway and picked one up with ridiculous anti climactic ease.

Luckily I can work from home on Thursday.

Was that for click and collect, or delivery straight to you?

I got a notification from The Warehouse and JB Hi Fi saying they have both shipped, so looks like I will end up with two. I was thinking again about TradeMe and realised I would have to sell it for at least $900 to recoup the 7.9% TradeMe success fees. What a rip off. So probably just going to find someone who wanted one and missed out and just sell privately.

Anyway, now I need to sign up for Playstation Plus. Is there any way to get a discount on the subscription?

I wish I'd paid the extra $5 for delivery now, instead of click and collect. I want to get a shipping notification and track it it's progress too :(

That's for delivery. It's the tracking details which show its at the courier depot in Auckland. I'm in Wellington so either tomorrow or Tuesday arrival I suspect.
