Even as I am bitching about the prices and lack of bundles, I am reaching for my wallet. Damn you.

Benjip:

Pre-ordered my Digital Edition with Mighty Ape too.

I think the "17–19th delivery" is just because it's marked as a large/bulky item in their system so it throws that default message as perhaps they use different couriers for that (eg. if you ordered a giant gaming chair, it's not going to fit in a typical courier van).

But I imagine being a hot ticket new console launch, they'll make sure they get them delivered on Day 1.

You're putting a heck of a lot of faith in NZP. Lately, they haven't managed most Auckland-Auckland Mightyape deliveries within their service standards for me.

PS5 show today was quite meh tbh.

Nothing to make me pick up a PS5 near launch, so a couple of years down the line it will be.

Looks like at this point I will be trading up to a Series X near launch as an upgraded gamepass machine.

New Playstation Plus subscription looks interesting

Not very interesting to me tbh.

It seems to be a one off dump of games rather than an ongoing service and requires PS+ which I don't subscribe to as I have no desire to play online with people.

Courier post handle mighty ape deliveries on the north shore. And their  pretty solid you can have parcels delivered next day by 9PM its honestly pretty impressive.

That message in red on JB HiFi's listing is not confidence inspiring:

I didn't see any such thing in my MA order.

As long as you got your order in on MA before they closed off pre orders you should be fine. Apprently their CSR's have been telling people theyre not sure how many consoles their getting but the fact they closed off orders within the hour of pre orders going live would seem to indicate otherwise they probably have a rough idea just not an exact number.

My CSR seemed to indicate my order should be part of the first batch. They seemed pretty confident.

No word on bundles yet, but if they release bundles, they will be different shipments and moving from a pre-order of this hardware only option to a pre-order would "lose your place in the queue".

That Digital Edition pricing is very attractive considering its a full power console!

The PS Plus Bundle contains most of the games I'd want to play at release time, but as I understand it, if you have a PS4 Game Disk, you can play it in the PS5? Or is that incorrect? Is it full backwards compatibility?

Its fully PS4 backwards compatible. Not PS3/2 or 1 though but nearly all of those are PSN titles now anyway

First job.

Fire whoever OK'd the $819.95 pricing. Could it be a more awkward amount?

Just make it $799 or slap some crappy game in and make it $849.

There's some weird ones I still keep PS discs around for that don't seem to ever make the jump, whether it be licensing (F1 games) or other reasons (Rage Racer, for some reason, never gets ported by Ridge Racer does?)

So no launch bundles? I need at least 2 controllers and I want a game bundled. :)

Noel Leeming had a series of bundles, but many look to be sold out online now. The only one still available at the time of posting this was the Silver one with two controllers and the Spiderman game
