It's a pity they didn't make a change so that the base screw, which is used only in vertical orientation, could also be used for horizontal. As it is now, when horizontal, there's no screw - the base just sort of clips on (actually it just sits there) - then becomes dislodged whenever you move the unit slightly.

Everytime I go to dust and pick it up a little bit, it just pops out of the base and tries to slide out of the TV stand. 😲 It feels like the only thing stopping it from coming right out is the cables in the back.

What is this "dusting" of which you speak?

Perchance some form of penance?

Not sure on the accuracy but the PS5 Pro which looks *sick* in black, will release in 2023 and supposedly support true 8K gaming.

The graphics in car games these days are breathtaking. I am more an arcade racer and single-player only (since I am an inconsiderate racer) and bang cars out of the way when I need to pass and they are in the way :)

I have been playing a fair bit of Forza 4 and I honestly can't believe how good the graphics are even after probably 50 hours. I drove though a glade the other day and the reflections and lights blew my mind. It's just fantastic.

Baldrick:

Has anyone experienced stick drift yet with their PS5 controller?

I think I am starting to have this issue with the left stick drifting left.

@Baldrick Interested to know whether you actually have stick drift - and if so, how you will deal with it.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

So far it doesn’t seem to be happening again.

I looked online and it talked about cleaning it with a clean cloth so I gave that a go and so far it seems ok.

I only got the PS5 in March so I’ve got a bit of time to watch out for it.

If I do have an issue I guess I will try taking the controller to The Warehouse where I purchased it.

I just purchased as second controller (the red one) as JB had it on special for $99 so at least I’ve got a controller if I have to send the original one for repair.

Generic heads up. If you're playing Quake on PlayStation back your save up frequently. Seems there is an issue where you hit a 'limit' in a single play session from frequent saving that will catastrophically corrupt your save. Game just stops mid-save and mangles your save data.

I'm fortunate as I just finished the main campaign on nightmare and was two levels into the expansion when it shat the bed. Others it seems have not been as lucky.

PS5 software update due tomorrow. Allowing M.2 SSD support.
I have a feeling gen 4 NVME prices will shoot through the roof with extra demand.

My wife bought me an SN850 for Father's Day so I've been waiting for this update. Unfortunately I only realised yesterday that it was the version without a heatsink so have had to go purchase one. Hopefully it fits.

Watching that GT trailer, I suddenly want to know about VR support and whether I'm better off spending my TV money on a PS5 and a Sim Rig.

I see the new midnight black pulse 3D headset is out soon. Surely a midnight black PS5 will follow too

This will be very unlikely. 6900xt with full 80cu complement cannot do true 8k at acceptable framerates. Only if they switch to next gen GPU would it have any likelihood of getting close without the help of FSR/upscaling/checkbox etc.

4k however yes, which the ps5 needs help with.

It doesn’t hurt to have extra cooling, but there is no concern with SSD’s overheating in there. The compartment is sealed (with flow from intake fan) and nvme’s rarely go above 50C average unless heavy i/o over a long period.

Ps5 doesn’t do anything special compared to PC use of nvme storage so won’t overheat it.

The PS5 does look sleek in Black and skinned - here is mine with the dbrand Robot skin applied:
