Anyone recommend any realistic car driving games where you can choose to drive normally in a city or on the highway?  I just like driving and being able to drive around different cities (without racing or destroying something) sounds OK to me.

Thanks

The GTA series is the best for just driving around a big city, dont be put off by its violent reputation.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

I've always wanted a game just like this, and the closest I've ever found was "Test Drive".

IIRC you're stuck driving around Hawaii though. Could be worse. Can always pretend you're Hawaii 5-0.

Burnout Paradise could fit the bill, I've not played it but it is an open world driving game with the option of racing and crashing into things.

Bus Driver?

No racing involved, and you are rewarded by smooth and timely driving

Burnout is serious fun. Plus you get to drive the BTTF DeLorean :)

You can just tootle about, or you can do the crazier stuff.

I'm sick of "Paradise City" as a result of that game.

Hey,

If you can hold on till November then Need for speed are releasing there new game "Most Wanted" which carries on from the other Most Wanted series of games that game out a few years ago.

This will have free roam so you can just drive around the city and you obviously can race people etc.
Check their website for updates and videos.

Looks like its going to be a sick game!

Thanks for the replies.  I downloaded a basic free version of Bus Driver last night and drove around San Francisco (I think) - pretty good.
I'll try City Car Driving next.

cheers

Looks quite interesting. Pity you need to drive on the right hand side only.

Need for speed is good for driving around. I like NFS:Carbon the best.
