Hi There!

I am having issues whereby all my ps3 downloads are painfully slow. 45 minutes to download 14MB and 12 hours to download 148MB Game update.

I am confident it's not my network nor my internet connection, but I am trying to work out if my ISP is throttling somehow (Though they deny any traffic shaping).

Anyone know what method downloads from PS3 are down via ? Is it a torrent or HTTP or FTP etc?

I have a 70Mbit VDSL Connection and I can saturate that at that speed most times of the day.

I am connected via GB Ethernet (No wireless).

is it only very recently?

My PS3 downloads are very fast 1MB/min or more usually. (ADSL2+)

Are you using a DNS switcher to access Netflix (like www.unblock-us.com). I think PS3 is on Akamai so that could cause problems if you aren't using your ISPs DNS.

I don't know of any ISPs throttling PS3 traffic, and I don't know why they would anyway since it is not international traffic and hardly likely to make up a significant portion of total traffic even if it was.

I find some things faster than others on my PS3. I've had PS1 games downloading from the store, some at what seems to be line speed, others seem like 100kb/s if that...

Is there some form of speedtest?

Possible that the thing you are downloading that is slow hasn't been downloaded in nz before, so isn't cached.
