Did you get an email confirmation of the purchase?
Have you logged off and logged in to Origin since you did?

Also, go to Games - > Redeem Game Code and use BF3E3 - will give you free close quarters expansion.

I figured out what it was,

The version I bought called 'battlefield 3 premium' didn't actually include the base game, when i assumed it would. I didn't even notice this until after i had been trying to figure out why i couldn't download it.

The one that does include the base game is called 'battlefield 3 premium edition'

i probably should have read the description on that before clicking add to cart but i must have read the description on the 'edition' one earlier because i don't remember seeing any warnings about it not including the base game.

I've tweeted @EA god knows how many times with no response so i've called my bank and asked for a chargeback and i'm seriously considering complaining to the commerce commission about this tricky advertising.

i honestly did not notice that there were two versions of the game.

I did look for a phone number to call and the only one i can find is an 0900 number billed at $2 a minute, ain't no way in hell i'm paying for that.

i've asked my lawyer friend for advice but if any of you have any idea what i could/should do then that would be much appreciated.

Their website states they 'generally don't give refunds for digital downloads' which i don't think is good practise and based on what i read HERE (under false information) its not legal.

i've taken screenshots of all this stuff too, if anyone wants me to post those i can.

Hi Hamish,
I was about to ask if you bought the 'expansion' version, as I know it caused a lot of confusion when it first came out. If you lived in the US, you could buy the base game for $5 at present, but this quickly jumps to $30 for us here in NZ.

Have you tried the EA online help via the Origin Client? There was another stuff up in the initial release of this game, where the CD Keys in the retail packaging did not give access to the expected version. Took a while to get through via the Online Help, but eventually got it sorted.

i just found an auckland phone number in the yellow pages, got put through to an australian woman who gave me an email address: easupport@8-bit.com.au

just sent an email to that and i got an automated response saying that that email address is no longer in use.

just called back the auckland number and the lady took my name and phone number and said she'd get someone to call me back.

not looking very promising :(

Was browsing these earlier today and wondered what the difference was between those two. "Edition" didn't enlighten much, aren't they both editions?

I guess they were perfectly designed then. They know most people will give up because of how hard it is as you discovered. Or think they may as well get the game now that they have the add on.

One is the Premium add-on and the other is the full game WITH the add-on.

Cheers! Could've opened the links if I cared enough, as it was I was so annoyed at their naming system that seems designed to entrap you into buying either the game or an addon more than once that I simply closed the web page and went to work. Much happier here.
