My ps3 had courpted system files. I tryed to restor them but all I got was a blank screen.
Ended up having to reformat the dam thing. Then I tryed to run the backups but they would not work. Now I've lost all my saves from the past 5 years grrrr

1) I don't have a console.
2) I'm not a gamer.
3) I'm a boring person.
4) Ouch.

Been there. It's pretty painful. I've since got a PSN+ subscription so at least all my saves get backed up to the cloud.

The PS3 backup\restore process is very nearly useless. Takes several hours to do anything and you generally find when you run the restore it restores a tiny percentage of it.

There are data recovery places that might be able to help, but they are generally quite expensive ($500).

Sorry for your loss otherwise.

Commiserations man, I think I'd damage a drywall if I lost my saves :(

I'd be annoyed, but then think "hold on, I really enjoyed that game, lets do it again!!!" - its when youre only part way through a game that its really annoying....
