Hi just wanting some recommendations for upgrading GPU for my pc.

I will be playing mainly FPS games such as Arma3, Dayz standalone (when it comes out) and BF4.

I'm only using a single display at 1080p. I'd like to run games at ultra, and I'm happy with FPS at around 60.

Looking for a dual fan card.

Looking at:
HD 7950 3gb

Not sure about Nvidia cards, perhaps a GTX 770.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

GTX660Ti (if you can still find one) or GTX760 would do fine. My 660Ti runs most current games on high @ 2560x1440.

If you look out for the new Amd R9 280x's they are giving slightly better performance than the 7970's for a good deal less price wise.
Depending on budget they're looking to be a great value for money enthusiast card.

Oh great thanks for that info; can I ask what are the most demanding games you are playing?

Thanks for the suggestion, I was thinking the new R9 280x's might be a bit overkill for 1080p display, although there is something to be said for future proofing and the price is very competitive to competing cards.

GTA V, Saint's Row 4, Assassin's Creed 3, Arkham City, BioShock Infinite, Skyrim. I do suspect BF4 will struggle on Ultra at 2560x1440 on the 660, though. High should be ok, and 1080 on high will be no problem.

I'm getting a used 7970 Vapor-X (still under warranty) and very cheap.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

Now all I need is Dayz standalone.

Inphinity:
GTA V,

Since it's too late to edit to fix the typo, I'll quote myself..

GTA IV, not V.

I had a 7950 3GB on my old 2500k also at 4.5GHz.
Ran virtually everything maxed out at 60+fps. The 7950 or what ever replaces it are a really good price now :)
