Doesn't look like there is a huge amount of interest here, but I also can't wait.

Everyone on reddit is chomping at the bit.

I will be interested, the current Arma II and Arma III versions have lots of bugs. In saying that its been over a year since the standalone was discussed and I see there is still no release date!

To save you having to read through all the reddit threads. dev blogs etc. DayZ SA, which will still be an alpha release is in final stages of testing. All core elements of the release have been completed. I don't think it is being too optimistic to expect release onto steam early access within the next couple weeks.

Dean has now started commenting again on reddit which suggests the project is now heading into a more pedestrian phase before final release as he previously cut himself off completely from all social media etc for a few months to focus fully.

DayZ SA is going to be old school and raw.

On release no vehicles, no mods, definitely no lockable storage (- I think no storage at all), you will die easily and often. Love it.

It's hard to be an epoch noob/lone wolf and go up against players with fortified bases with enough guns, cars and helicopters (and gold) for a small army.

This is going to be scary and real.

Never too old to play games, doesn't require a super high spec PC if you tune the resolution and visuals down. CPU is probably more important than video card. Any i5 should be enough to play. Do it. Tell your wife it is for disaster survival training.

Yep, pumped for it. Got into DayZ about 6 months ago, hammered it for several months but had to take a break. got into Epoch reently too which was fun!

About to build a gaming rig and DayZ SA is one of my big drivers, as my old MBP isn't cutting it now.

I'm looking forward to the DayZ SA, and keeping my fingers crossed that it will be out by Xmas...?

In the meantime I am having a blast playing Arma3:Breaking Point

Reminds me of old school DayZ

Yeah I hope so too. I've gone back to vanilla Dayz to get used to old school Dayz without the huge amounts of military and vehicles spawns that you have in Epoch.

Only just learn that you can server hope in official mod - turn up at NWAF and no decent guns - try another server and another - character loads at same location and loot persists across servers.
