Hi all,
Have been searching the net and cant find a solution that works for me. Trying to play Counterstrike:Source and about every 2nd or 3rd time I try to load a level it starts loading game data etc and when it gets to "initializing game data" it freezes for about 20 seconds then blue screens with nv4_dsp.dll infinite driver loop. (pc is P5BVM MB, E6420 CPU, 1GB 800mhz kingston ram, Asus EN7600GS GPU running 94.58 drivers, as anything later causes TV fo flicker terribly. However still crashed with latest drivers))
I have tried updated drivers, updating steam/counterstrike, disabling antivirus etc. I have noticed on the net it seems to be quite common, but I have tried the suggestions I have found (aside from changing the RAM or GPU) to no avail.

Has anyone had similar problem that they have managed to resolve?

Have you tested the RAM? I recommend the Microsoft Online Crash Analysis tool. Burn to a CD, boot from it and let it run overnight...

Is it worth reinstalling Steam? Save your folder containing the GCF files somewhere and then copy them back in after you've un/reinstalled Steam. Just brainstorming here but maybe your hardware configuration has changed during the time you've had Steam installed and something may not be configured correctly. I remember something about deleting a BOB file to refresh this but not sure now.

I have removed and reinstalled Steam, CS and the source engine to no avail. Steam site says it's mainly a driver problem, but new drivers don't make a difference.
I will try the crash analysis tool.
Many Thanks

Managed to sort the problem. Turned the Diectx sound acceleration to basic and problem solved. Must have been causing a driver conflict.
Thanks for your suggestions
