I've just set up the inter-BBS door game Legend of the Red Dragon (LORD) on the Agency BBS and now working on hooking up Barren Realms Elite as well.

If you want to play them pull down a copy of the Telnet ANSI client NetRunner from bbs.geek.nz and Telnet into the BBS - port 23 - agency.bbs.geek.nz

For those of you old enough to remember... what other cool DOOR games do you think this sysop should install?

Trade Wars, have fond memories playing this back in the 90's. Couldn't get back into it now though, I like graphics too much.

There was a Usurper style game as well that started popping up, but took it to the next level with basic kingdom management etc... Exitlitus or something...

Found a lot online about this game... just trying to suss which version to install that will play nicely with my BBS. Will let you know when it's up and running..I may tempt you back yet

That's an interesting one.. I did some trawling about on the net and found the download files and will attempt to set this up. Looks like the author will accept paypal to register it still.. not sure if we'll do this, depends on if users take it on. Will keep you posted on progress, thanks for the suggestion.

If you confirm the name of the game you are thinking of then I'll look for it.

Usurper... yep got this now, looks like the original developer of the game made it open source in 2009 but it's still being worked on and developed! Last update in July of last year.. will install and let you know when it's working nice.

Now have Barren Realms Elite installed and running... have it connected up to a global inter BBS league.

Have also installed a fully registered version of LORD so this game is now winnable / can be completed.

Oops... think I killed Usurper - 1st player bug ;) - "The first time you enter Usurper, you might find that it freezes on you. Simply kill Usurper's DOS display window and enter the game again; it shouldn't freeze after the first time."
Now the BBS wont let me in because my session has hung... :)

Thanks have reset the door game and added some time to your account to make up for the hanging door. It may be I don't have a com port / fossil driver setting quite right yet. I tested the door remotely and got to the main menu and exited ok. Saw another user online using the game as well.. that said came back later and I think the door had not exited correctly as it seemed like the user was still connected but I suspect they were not :-(

I have added an inactivity timeout on the BBS so it kicks users (or those who are caught in a door that has hung) off after 6 mins of no action. That should negate the time being used up for no reason and unlock things when I am not about.
