I've eligible to play at beta but haven't downloaded and installed yet but the news letters have lots of YouTube videos which look very interesting.
Waiting new build to install it.

If you want an Elite fix look at Oolite which is free and can be played vanilla or the various expansion packs/mods.

I was in the in the premium beta, and have played the current beta extensively, and I love it.

I play both with and without the occulus rift DK2, and a hull HOTAS throttle rudder combination. I know others who play with just keyboar and mouse and still enjoy it.

It enjoyable currently and shows a lot of promise for the future.

If you enjoyed the original Elite you will probably love this.

It is all first person cockpit, with no external views, which some people do not like.

It is going through multiple server resets at the moment, as each beta is released.

Some people do not like that and find it frustrating.

I backed both, they are two different games to me.

To me ED is more of a lone wolf game, and Star Citizen is more of a group play/clan game.

I'm premium beta too. Joined just because I am so much of an elite fanboy from the 80's.

Never got further than Deadly though. Acorn Electron all black and white - tape lading untils got a slogger ram board and could copy+load from disk..

Will have to dig out my Thrustmaster HOTAS from my flight simming days.

I see that the Track IR is compatible too.

Would having dual monitors add anything ?

The Oculus rift is supported for Elite?? Bugger!!!! Now I'm going to have to spend all my toy money on a PC and the headset .. damn them!!!!!

Enjoyed the beta so far, but have actually resolved to now leave it alone until release rather than spend time climbing the ranks only to have my progress reset when the full game arrives!

It is shaping up to be an excellent game, though one that does require effort and patience to get the most out of.
