Can anyone please give me some good ideas or brands for wireless gaming headsets. This is for nephew xmas present.

why wireless? they tend to just be a PITA with batteries etc.

I have and use a Siberia V3 (wired) http://steelseries.com/products/audio/steelseries-siberia-v3

If just headphones (no mic) Sennheiser HD-280

Both are over ear.

The amount of times he has destroyed headphones cause of the cables is why. Also Keen on mic cause he does chat alot online.

The Sony Pulse parallel imported by MightyApe. Works on PS[3|4], Windows machines, and Xbox via a TV with a 3.5mm headset socket and usb port somewhere to power it.

Just my 2 cents on the G930 (which is currently resting on my head after coming out of retirement on the wall)...

Its pretty good, the mic is a bit staticy and the signal cuts in and out every hour or so for a split second. The battery life on my unit is good, however I have read lots of reports of the batteries dying quickly. Audio quality is excellent in my opinion, pretty much on par with my ATH-M50x.

If you are looking for a mic for streaming I wouldn't recommend it because of the desync, but just talking over [insert comm app here] it will function fine.

Now I know you want it for PC, but my opinion of it got a bit of a boost today (and is the reason for its current location) when I learned it also works on the PS4 (and 3).

Yeah, I've also got a G930, and I too experience the 2-3 second signal drops every hour or so. Not too deal-breaking, but can cause annoyance. Apparently it's a driver issue on Logitech's end, and there are some workarounds available.
Other than that, great headset, and well priced to boot. My only qualm with it so far, other than occasional drop-outs, is that it doesn't grip onto my head as much as I'd like it to.

I Just got the Turtle Beach i60 and I highly recommend it. Definitely an upgrade from my old Steel Series Siberia Headset.
I bet your Nephew will also get a kick out of the voice changer.

Google "g930 battery not charging", I went through 4 sets of these in about 7-8 months with this issue before giving up.
I ended up buying some Astro A50s which I still have but even those took about 2 years of firmware patches to become useful and still have a couple of annoying issues with the mic.
