For those of us still holding on to our PS3's for media streaming, help is here at last.

Whilst we wait for Sony to add native support for media streaming Plex have released an app for PS4.

It is currently available in the Sony NZ store free however at present it is only usable by Plex Pass subscribers, though for $149 for lifetime pass it is worth the cost.

They have said that they will be opening up the media streaming side to free users eventually once its gone through load tests.

I had a good play with the app this morning before I left for work and was really pleased with the usability, the PS4 controller works easily through the menus.

Streaming wise, it handled everything I threw at it this morning without any issues however I didn't watch a movie all the way through so couldn't check to see if the XBones buffering issue would appear here.

I will watch a full movie tonight and report back with my verdict on streaming HD movies.

I'm glad this was announced today as the wife was going to be buying me a chromecast as part of my xmas presents today so saved her a bit of cash.
