So is anyone else salivating in anticipation?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GE2BkLqMef4

I have been waiting since completing FallOut New Vegas, I am not the type to repeat a game after I have completed it so I have filled the gap somewhat with FarCry3 and 4 but gave up on them a little while ago.

I am certainly going to be trying to get this one as near to release as possible!

For the first time I am going to go for FallOut on PC rather than Playstation, partially because I don't want to upgrade my PS3 to a PS4 and partially because I have a pretty good set up now to play on!

Me to

It's available to preorder now on Steam for $99. Might wait till there is a next steam weekend sale. But knowing me I will preorder my PC version from Steam.

Let's hope it has more content than the Wolfenstein New Blood which didn't take to long to complete mind you was only about $35 to purchase.

Fallout 4 has had mass hysteria from people wanting this. The trailer looks really good and has some continuances from the fallout 3. Some sites say they have been working on this since 2012

Ironically I still haven't found time to play New Vegas, after playing Fallout 3 through several times.

Damn work, kids and life getting in the way of my gaming :-P

Will buy this eventually, but I've pretty much given up on buying games at release.

I'm not a fan of bleak games, I like a bit of colour.  I always felt like while Fallout 3 was a beautiful game at the time, it was just a bit too bleak for me.  Sure, post apocalyptic world etc, but in comparison to something like The Last of Us it just didn't do it for me.

I'm hoping this one has a bit more colour to it.  I know it's a dumb thing, but yeah, everyone has their quirks I guess.

3 was a great game and i also completed all the DLC except the pitts.

New Vegas was epic but the DLC was a bit hohum, would have liked a dlc that continued the game like in 3

I actually have never completed a Bethesda game... Their story telling usually is all other the place, and too often you can run off during a conversation and get distracted (maybe this was just Skyrim).   Skyrim was a great game, but lost focus way to easily in that game... Finished every Dragon Age and Mass Effect though :P

It wasn't just the colour, everything in fallout is pretty depressing really.   I loved being the bad guy in the KoToR RPGs but I really can't get into it in the Fallout ones.  I always end up being a good character because everyone was already so screwed that screwing them more seemed pointless.  I'll be playing on XB1, and will probably pre-order it just so I can have it pre-downloaded.

I haven't played any of the Fallout games but a colleague keeps raving about them. Are the stories linked? If I were to kick off with New Vegas would I be selling myself short in terms of a bigger picture?

I doubt it, there will be general history that you as a player might know, and references to past games.  However your character in the game is very unlikely to know this history.  In Fallout 1-3 the characters didn't know of each others history at all, and I'd expect the same in fallout 4.

The sort of reference you can find are like this:  The whole point of fallout 1 was to find a water chip to save your people.. hardest thing to find ever.   In fallout 2 you stumble on crates of the things.

GMG will have many sales like this before the release, no rush to buy it now IMO.  since you know they havent even said the release date (other than 2015)

Indeed, just pointing out a current offer given people here are talking preorders.

That.. and 23% is a pretty healthy discount, even by GMG standards.

As someone said on GP forums - "I'd be more excited if someone other than Bethesda were developing it" - I'm a massive FO1\2 fan, enjoyed FO3 but wasn't completely blown away, and enjoyed New Vegas a lot more. Hopefully Obsidian or someone will be doing the FO4 version of new vegas soon though :)
