It has been quite a long time since I last went to the gaming section of a store, so I am totally clueless on this. Are there brick-and-mortar stores in NZ that sell Steam gift cards or wallet codes?

EBGames, The Warehouse, some supermarkets... go to any decent mall and there'll likely be at least one place you can buy them.

Stores have recently started stocking steam wallet cards so just have a look at any supermarket or a gaming store (the sections where they keep all the gift cards) and you should find them.

They were a big banner feature of the last The Warehouse catalog, so yes they are widely available, although maybe not filtered through to all stores of some of the smaller retailers with poorer distribution networks.

EB has had them for quite a while; they sold them in USD before Steam began accepting NZD. I didn't realise they were available elsewhere now.
