richms: Should be fine for gaming. Even the bottom end TVs are giving quite respectable pictures now, and without much picture processing on them there isnt anything you need to turn off with a game mode like on the better TVs with motionplus/flow/whatever effects.

Not really caring about picture quality, more concerned about lag and whether 17ms is suitable or not.
When i purchased my first big screen tv back back probably 10 to 12 years ago, i purchased a plasma 40 inch. The lag was so bad you could not game. If i moved a characters fwd, it would take literally half a second to move. It was so laggy i had to manually delay audio out of the surround sound system or it would be out of sync.
I returned it and purchased a 40inch LCD at the time - that worked fine.
