Hi Guys,

Just wanting to see if anybody here has the same issue as me with their 500 gb PS4 console.  I've had it for just over a year now (purchased in Nov 2014) and basically ever since I've owned it, there have been DS4 connection drop-outs.  I have to sit in a certain position to not have any problems haha.  I haven't done anything about it up until now because I had loaded on my games and set up the PS4 before it started to behave this way.  Right now there is a whole heap more of downloaded games on there, so it's going to be a mission if I have to replace it.

The PS4 is situated in my media cupboard in the hallway only 8 meters and 2 doors from my living room.  Just a point of note. I previously housed my PS3 there and it had no troubles at all!

Problem is that the DS4 will sometimes disconnect entirely or there will be a huge amount of lag while playing or alternatively my character in whatever game I'm playing will start to run erratically in circles etc.

Do you have any suggestions?  Or should I just bite the bullet and try and get a replacement unit.  Only problem there is that I purchased it from dun dun dun...the Warehouse!

Thanks for any help you can give.

Might be worth trying another controller first. Either hire one out or borrow one from somewhere.

Good luck dealing with TWH...

I forgot to mention that I have problems with the original DS4 and more problems with a second one I purchased separately. (Not from THW). Pretty sure it's not a controller issue.

@Finch I had a good read of your thread earlier today... Not looking forward to having to deal with them... But maybe they've improved in the months since....

That is not how far wireless controllers are designed to operate. I would say there is no fault at all.

I'm confused as to your reply?... Are you implying that the DS4s should have a longer range than that? Or are you saying I'm too far away from my console, hence the no fault comment? I am 99% confident that the DS4s are not at fault, but that the PS4 has some sort of Bluetooth signal issue.

You are too far. Wireless controllers are made to cover the distance from sofa to screen, not half way across a house.

Totally disagree! Unless you have proof otherwise. PS3 worked from same spot... Even worked from outside. Not everyone wants their console making noise in their living room.

Bluetooth doesn't go through solid objects very well.

Given the comparably abysmal battery life of the DS4 compared to the DS3, I would imagine that they're using less power for the DS4 radio. The build quality of the DS4 is very poor compared to the DS3, they've cut corners everywhere to get the gimmicky features (touchpad, stupid light) working "for a price" so I wouldn't be surprised if performance has been sacrificed.

I bought an adapter so I can use an Xbox360 controller with my PS4, best of both worlds.

I understand that bluetooth has it limitations, but it's really not travelling through many walls - A hallway with an open cupboard door and open hallway door.  I agree that the DS4 is certainly a step down in a lot of ways from the DS3.  What adapter are you using?  I've also heard of people using a long USB cable off the PS4 into their living room with a Titan One controller adapter at the end and their DS4 linked to it.  Might look into something like that.  That way I can just roll out the cable when I need it and roll it up when I'm done.

I can totally live with how it is now however.  Thanks for your input on this smile
