I am trying to watch a xvid tv programme stored on my laptop using the media player on the PS3 but i keep getting a message "the data type is not supported"

If i put the file onto a usb stick it will play no problems.

Both the laptop and the PS3 are wirelessly connected using a Netgear WRG614 as a wireless access point back to a D-link dsl302G as my modem.

I have the latest system upgrade on my PS3 and use WM11 as my server.

Any ideas how to stream successfully?

I have managed occasionally in the past but tend to use the usb stick method to ensure an uninterrupted viewing.
