Hello guys,

I am a long term player of Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2 but have taken a 2 year break from Guild Wars 2 and haven't purchased Heart of Thorns yet.

I was wondering what people think, has a lot changed? Will it be hard for me to get back into the game? Am I too far behind now?

Thanks

What are you primarily interested in when playing MMOs? Some thoughts below.. some of these aren't HoT-related but are more "what's happened in the past year".

Revenant is cool and sPvP is a lot of fun now with leagues and divisions.

The HoT story still has a lot of bugs despite the amount of time since expansion release - some critical bugs that could potentially stop you from finishing the campaign.

WvW has a new borderland map and it's awful.

Raids are nifty but the novelty wears off very easily with them, and they've increased the Fractal levels and split them up (so instead of having three fractals + boss it's one-by-one).

GW2 has changed of course. There have been a lot of updates + the Xpac.

So there is more stuff to do, areas to explore.

Also, the Xpac has new, alternative traitlines/skills for max (80) level characters. But, the old traitlines/skills are still viable.

Armour/weapon stats (at each tier) are still the same. There are new looks. But, you don't have to make new gear to be effective.

Your old crafting loot will still be valuable. Actually, the old mid-tier crafting materials tend to be the most useful now.

There will be a learning curve. But, GW2 will be a lot easier to pickup than any other MMO I can think of.
